Accountability is a lost trait.
Accountability is a lost trait.
This is my person opinion in many ways supported by others and the world. No wonder we have an issue with a lack of integrity.
Accountability means I am not always a victim.
Accountability means I am not always a victim.
I cannot blame others, the circumstances around me or that life is unfair.
Accountability means someone is “above” me/us.
Accountability means someone is “above” me/us.
I am not my own authority. We all want to hold others accountable but the desire is not always matched by wanting others to us accountable.
Advent and Christmas remind us to repent.
Advent and Christmas remind us to repent.
This was the main point from last week’s message but we must always be reminded of this truth.
Jesus’ return is imminent.
Jesus’ return is imminent.
It is going to happen. Lord willing, it will happen very soon! His coming, will product judgment but it will also produce mercy and grace.
Our “heritage” does not exempt us from repentance.
Our “heritage” does not exempt us from repentance.
Growing up in a Christian home. Attending church faithfully is no guarantee. Knowing the Bible inside and out doesn’t do it necessarily. Living in our country that has acted more Christian in the past doesn’t do it either. God can create true children out of inanimate and non living objects if he so desires.
Repentance leads to transformed relationships.
Repentance leads to transformed relationships.
Notice here what John the Baptist states. (Side note: Jesus would say very similar things in his message). If we repent and then do not have any change in relationships there may be a problem.
Generosity towards others.
Generosity towards others.
Regardless of where you are in the world we can learn to be generous.
Be content and treat others justly.
Be content and treat others justly.
Look at the response to the tax collectors and soldiers. It was not to find a new job. Change of circumstances is not always the key to transformation. Change of attitude always is. Not taking “advantage” of your position is key to true accountability.
Not everyone will be happy about the message.
Not everyone will be happy about the message.
We must expect this. Some will question our motives. Others will try to say why this should not be done. Others will be openly hostile (though right now I think this is the minority). Some will come form the “inside” while others will be on the outside.
Jesus alone provides transformation, mercy, judgment and accountability.

Everything points to Jesus.
