Living out the gospel. 12-16 ROMANS 1:1-7 GOD IS INVITING YOU TO SALVATION, HOLINESS, AND SERVICE THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST! ROMANS 1:8-17 PASSIONATELY STAND WITH THE GOSPEL THAT WILL TRANSFORM PEOPLE’S LIVES. ROMANS 1:18-32 REJECTING THE TRUTH OF GOD LEADS TO GOD’S JUDGMENT OF A SIN FILLED LIFE AND ETERNAL DAMNATION. Without Excuse ROMANS 2:1-29 WITHOUT EXCUSE 1. God judges without partiality. 1-11 2. Jesus Christ is the standard for judgment. 12-16 3. Religious adherence is insufficient for true righteousness. 17-24 4. What is going on in your heart is what matters to God! 25-29 GOD JUDGES EVERY PERSON IMPARTIALLY BASED ON THEIR HEART AND NOT THEIR EXTERNAL ADHERENCE TO RELIGIOUS PRACTICE. EVERY PERSON IS WITHOUT EXCUSE. GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR HEART! APPLICATION 1. Being religious is not sufficient for salvation. Don’t depend on what you have done to go to heaven! 2. Arrogantly depending upon my religious effort instead of Jesus Christ leads to God’s judgment. APPLICATION 3. Since God is more concerned about the condition of your heart than your religious activity, I should be asking myself about what do I believe more than what am I doing for salvation. APPLICATION 4. In parenting and discipleship, care about the heart! Develop structures that point people to Christ while allowing the reality of their heart to be disclosed. Don’t teach or communicate that looking good is sufficient or makes you holy. 5. In evangelism, help people see the futility of depending upon their religious efforts. EVERY PERSON IS WITHOUT EXCUSE. GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR HEART!
