We’re busy. We’re on information overload. We are trying to provide for ourselves.
Holiday rest
How do loving others and spiritual rest go together?

1. Enter spiritual rest

What is the rest? Sabbath rest, Promised Land rest, rest from your works
What is the relationship between unbelief and disobedience?
We rest when we trust that God will provide everything we need as we obey rather than complain/murmur/dither. Forgiveness, strength
Israelites
Soccer
Ourselves
What sin were they committing that disallowed them from rest?
Wife/Husband - Proving your love
Sin deceives us into not trusting God and trusting He will provide as we obey.
Not “ God won’t give you anything you can’t handle.”
Not that God doesn’t want you to do things.

2. Pursue heart integrity

Discerning the thought and intentions of the heart
He knows why you do what you do
Not pursue heart integrity because you’re afraid of judgment
Pursuing heart integrity because He knows already and you want to be known
Do you have a friend or a group of friends where you are known? Where you aren’t hiding?
You can’t rest if you are hiding nor can you share rest.

3. Share the mercy and grace we have received

Draw a line between Hebrews 4:14-16 and Hebrews 10:19-25
Receiving grace in full assurance of faith means sharing it and stirring it up
We stop relying on ourselves. We rely on Christ and practically on one another.
Rest - Stir up one another to rest. Talk about Christ and marvel at His grace in your life.
Pray for one another.
When you are tempted about your reputation, your status, your needs, just quietly rest by doing what’s in front of you.
