Week 2: The King Has Come To Bring Peace
We started a new series this month, our Christmas month, called, The King Has Come, and thank God He has.  AMEN!
I read this quote last week and it’s so important to understand.
Jesus didn't enter the world just to be a moral example. He didn't enter the world to start a religious movement. He came into the world to save sinners like us, to be a sacrifice for sin that allowed us to be reconciled to God. And He fulfilled that purpose.
Thanks God that today we have a true King, a true Savior and His name is Jesus.
Last week we look at: The King Has Come To Bring Hope
This week I want to look at: The King Has Come To Bring Peace

Joke: “I asked my wife what she wanted for Christmas.
She said, ‘Nothing would make me happier than diamonds.’
So guess what I got her?
Nothing.
I’m praying for your pastor this week.”
Joke: A little girl prayed:
“Lord, thank You for Christmas.
And please help mommy like the present I picked out for her…
even though it’s actually for me.”
Ok, let’s see that our King Jesus has come and brought Peace to us.
Isaiah 9:6–7 (NKJV) 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Let’s look at the story of the angels appearing to the Shepherds.
Luke 2:8–20 (NKJV) 8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” 15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
Let’s take a look at a few points in this amazing story.
1. Peace Declared By Heaven
Luke 2:14 (NKJV) 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!
As one person said: Like a Christmas carol sung in the still night, the angel’s message broke the silence of despair.
The message from the angels is that God is at peace with those who will accept this amazing gift.
Romans 5:1 (NLT) 1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
2.  Peace Comes To The Lowly
Luke 2:8 (NKJV) 8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
It’s amazing to me that God would choose these lowly Shepherds to make this announcement.  Why not the priest.
Billy Graham once said the gospel is so simple “a child can understand it, yet so deep the wisest cannot fathom it.”
Matthew 5:3 (NKJV) 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
3.  Fear Turns To Peace, In His Presence.
Luke 2:10 (NKJV) 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
Peace is not the absence of problems but the presence of Jesus.
Over and over throughout the Bible, we read “Do Not Be Afraid, or Fear Not.
Someone said that there are 365 fear not types of scriptures, 1 for each day of the year.
Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
4. Peace Is Wrapped In A Person
Luke 2:12 (NKJV) 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
I love this quote:  “No God, no peace. Know God, know peace.”
So true, Jesus is our Peace.
Ephesians 2:14–18 (NKJV) 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
5.  Peace Brings Praise
Luke 2:20 (NKJV) 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
A Christmas choir lifting their voices echoes the shepherds praising God.
Colossians 3:15–17 (NKJV) 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
6. Peace is Meant to Be Shared
Luke 2:17 (NKJV) 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child.
Church Family, if we don’t share the Gospel, WHO WILL!
Like I shared last week:
80% of people say that they don’t go to church, because no one invited them.
Let’s, EACH ONE, REACH ONE
John 20:21 (NKJV) 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Just as Christmas cards bring joy, we carry God’s message of peace into the world.
Jesus came into the world to:
Luke 1:79 (NKJV) 79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
This Christmas season, invite someone to church.  Take a few cards with you and invite them to the 2 and 4 pm service.
Sometimes people are nervous so invite them to check us out online. CFFCNJ, Facebook, Youtube, cffchurch.
