Don’t Ignore Christ’s Invitation

Most people ignore Christ’s invitation to rest in Him.
Jeremiah 6:16 “Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
Hebrews 4:1 “Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.”
If we come to Christ for rest, He will not cast us out!
Isaiah 30:15 “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,”
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”

Lay Aside Your Burdens

Christians are called to cast all of our burdens on the Lord.
1 Peter 5:6–7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
If Christians have been given such wonderful promises, then why do we still often feel so burdened with guilt, shame, worry, doubt, stress, discouragement, physical ailments, and a host of other things?

Fix Your Mind on Christ

We must be purposeful in pursuing Christ with our minds.
1 Peter 1:13 “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
We are called to be transformed by the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2), to be renewed in the spirit of our minds (Ephesians 4:23), to set our minds on things that are above, not things of the earth (Colossians 3:2), and to love the Lord with all of our minds (Mark 12:30).
When the Lord is large in your mind, there is no room left for burdens.
Isaiah 26:3–4 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
Hebrews 12:2 “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
See Philippians 4:6-9...
Replace your burdens with thoughts of the Lord. Think of who He is and what He has done. Think of His attributes and His mighty works. Think of His precious promises that are contained in His word. Hold on to the hope He has given you.
Apply these truths to guilt and shame, worry, doubt, stress, discouragement, physical ailments, etc...
2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”
See Luke 10:38-42...
