1. Adam and Eve lived in harmony with God and each other (develop inductively)

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (BACKGROUND 1)
He created a world where everything was in harmony, and he created Adam and Eve to rule over creation (BACKGROUND 2)
God provided an opportunity for Adam and Eve to trust him and grow in relationship with him

2. Sin and death fractured that harmony after the serpent pushed Adam and Eve to rebel (develop inductively)

An enemy entered the garden (Genesis 3:1) (BACKGROUND 3)
The enemy sought to undermine Adam and Eve’s trust in God (Genesis 3:1-5)
It worked, and Adam and Eve chose to rebel rather than trust (Genesis 3:6) (BACKGROUND 4)
Their decision fractured the harmony they experienced—shame, blame, broken relationships, separation from God, and death (Genesis 3:7-13, 16-19)

3. God promised to send a Savior who would defeat the serpent (Genesis 3:14-15) (BACKGROUND 5)

Main Idea: As promised, Jesus defeated the Devil and is setting everything right

APPLICATION: Our world is still broken; we are still sinful. We also face legitimate spiritual warfare, and we need someone to save us. Praise God he sent his Son, Jesus.
