In the beginning
In the beginning
Time is everything to us. Our entire lives are wrapped in it.
We use it to determine when someone can exercise rights and privileges
School
Driving
Voting
Smoking
Drinking
Credit Cards
Loans
We use time to determine earnings 25.00 per hour
We use time to make sure we don’t burn things
But time is an invention by God
It only exists here on Earth
Hear a lot that eternity is endless time.........That’s not 100% correct.
Eternity is the absence of time. There is no need to track.
Truly an impossible concept to understand.
But at the point when God decided to create time began. We now have a marker.
Day 1
Day 1
The Earth was created but was waste and void.
The materials were all there but not fully formed yet.
Cool concept let there be light.....not the sun
However He still created days and night
Day 2
Day 2
Most accept that this is when the atmosphere/ sky was created. Allowing for life on earth in the water and in the sky
There is a theory called the water dome theory that when the Bible says separating the waters below the firmament from the waters above.
Actual layer of water surrounding the Earth
Day 3
Day 3
Now we see the Earth taking shape into how we see it today.
One can deduce that up until this moment the entire Earth was covered in water.
God tells the waters to gather into “seas” or oceans
By doing so He reveals the land that we live on today.
Pangea? Supercontinent? Flood? Babel?
First Life
First Life
Having revealed the land, now we see first life on Earth as grass, herbs, trees.
Designed to be self sustaining.
Such an amazing design that the Earth was designed by God to basically be self sustaining.
One oak tree typically produces 300-1000 more oak trees in its life.
All life plant and animal is designed by God to be self sustaining. God only had to create it once and created it with the ability to continue.
Day 4
Day 4
The Sun and moon and stars are created.
Solidifying time
Food source for life
Tide controls
Climate
Everything
Day 5
Day 5
Sea and air creatures
Be fruitful and multiply
Argument for evolution is that everything is self sustaining, evolving, no need for God
I believe it is the observance of the true genius of God’s creation.
Day 6
Day 6
God created the animals of the earth.
After their kind......very limited interspecies breeding.
Imagine the world without that control.
Creation of Man
Creation of Man
“Let Us make man in Our image.”
First time we read about trinity theology
God created us in His own image
Told man to replenish the earth and subdue it.
Take control of it.
Day 7
Day 7
Rest
Not that God needed it but He left His work to do what He designed it to do.
Chapter 2
Chapter 2
God Blesses the 7th day and makes it hallowed
God Blesses the 7th day and makes it hallowed
This is the long standing argument for churches whether it be Saturday or Sunday
Saturday is the hallowed day, Sunday is the Lord’s day
Eden
Eden
Genesis 2:7–8 “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.”
Tree of the knowledge of good and evil
Woman
Woman
It is not good that he be alone
God sent every animal for him to name
But a suitable helper was not found.
God put man to sleep and took a tib and created woman.
The only part of creation that was created from one of His creations
Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Serpent tempts woman
woman gives to man
The introduction of sin - first sin is disobedience
Introduction also of the evil one confirmed in other scripture as satan
And our very nature changed
Children are not taught to sin. It is a part of their being.
God gave them coats of skin - many believe the fist sacrifice.
Sent out of the garden
Conclusion
Conclusion
So much of science vs religious argument comes from just these 3 chapters.
Is it 6 literal days?
Is it day as in an age. Like we are in the age of technology
2 Peter 3:8–9 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
Key takeaway:
Questioning is not heresy it is curiosity. God wants us to question
