DESPERATE FOR HIS PRESENCE
DESPERATE FOR HIS PRESENCE
The New King James Version Chapter 33
15 Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. 16 For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”
Desperate for His Presence
Desperate for His Presence
Exodus 33:15–16
There are moments in the journey of life—and the journey of ministry—where you come face-to-face with a truth that shakes you to your core: If God does not go with you, you cannot go forward. That is the cry Moses released on the mountain. It wasn’t a prayer for blessings, favor, protection, or miracles. It was a cry for the Presence. A desperate, unfiltered, uncompromising plea that said, “Lord, if You are not in it—if You are not leading us—if You are not the One carrying us—then we would rather stay right where we are.”
Moses understood something the modern church often forgets:
🔥 The Presence of God is not optional. It is essential.
🔥 The Presence of God is not an accessory. It is the identity of God’s people.
🔥 The Presence of God is not a feeling. It is the distinguishing mark of a chosen generation.
Israel had seen miracles… but miracles were not enough.
They had seen provision… but provision was not enough.
They had tasted deliverance… but deliverance was not enough.
Why?
Because nothing can replace Him.
Moses looked at a nation that had been called out, set apart, and chosen—yet he also knew that without the manifest Presence of God, they would look like every other nation, fear like every other people, and wander like those who had no hope. The Presence was their compass, their covering, their confidence, and their inheritance.
And beloved, the same is true for us today.
We live in a generation that has programs, lights, strategies, structures, and systems—but lacks the one thing that makes heaven touch earth: the abiding Presence of the living God. You can fill a church with people, but only His Presence can fill people with life. You can craft a sermon, but only His Presence makes it breathe. You can run a ministry, but only His Presence makes it holy.
Just like Moses, there must rise up in our spirit a radical declaration:
“Lord, if You aren’t going with me into this day, this assignment, this decision, this season—then I’m not moving!”
Because when His Presence goes with you:
✨ Grace is recognized.
✨ Favor is visible.
✨ Your identity is sealed.
✨ And you become unmistakably different from the world around you.
One moment in His Presence can do what years of self-effort never could.
One whisper from Him is greater than a thousand opinions.
One touch from His glory makes you unrecognizable to your past and unstoppable in your future.
Church, today God is calling us back to that same holy desperation—a cry that says, “Lord, we want You more than the Promised Land. We want You more than blessings. We want You more than breakthrough. We want Your Presence.”
And when a people get desperate for Him—truly desperate—heaven always answers.
**And that is what God is awakening in His Church again:
**And that is what God is awakening in His Church again:
a hunger for Him above everything.**
A hunger that says:
“God, I don’t just want You to touch me—
I want You to transform me.
I don’t just want to feel You—
I want to walk with You.
I don’t just want to visit Your Presence—
I want to dwell in it.”
A hunger that loves Him—not just for what He does—
but for who He is.
A hunger that says:
“Lord, You are my life.
You are my breath.
You are my treasure.
You are my reward.
I am desperate for You.”
This sermon is not about information.
It is about invitation—
an invitation into deeper waters,
an invitation into a closer walk,
an invitation into the fire of His presence.
Today, God is looking for hearts that crave Him…
souls that yearn for Him…
believers who will not settle for surface-level faith,
but who will press in until the glory comes.
Because hear this:
The greatest gift God gives us
is not blessings,
not breakthrough,
not miracles,
not favor,
but Himself.
And when you become desperate for His Presence—
He begins to reveal Himself in ways that change everything.
POINT 1 — A DESPERATE HEART BEGINS WITH HOLY DISSATISFACTION
POINT 1 — A DESPERATE HEART BEGINS WITH HOLY DISSATISFACTION
Scripture: Matthew 5:6 — “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness…”
A desperate heart starts when you get tired of living on spiritual leftovers.
When you get tired of empty worship, powerless Christianity, shallow faith, and casual devotion.

A man once lived next door to a bakery. Every morning he smelled fresh bread but never went inside. He lived on the aroma, not the substance.
Many believers live on the smell of God’s presence—
Sunday worship, a quick prayer, a verse of the day—
but never enter in to taste the fullness.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
God will allow you to feel empty—not to punish you but to pull you deeper.
Holy dissatisfaction is an invitation to revival.
POINT 2 — HIS PRESENCE IS OUR IDENTITY
POINT 2 — HIS PRESENCE IS OUR IDENTITY
Scripture: Exodus 33:16 — “So we shall be separate… by Your presence.”
You are not defined by your job, your failures, your past, your abilities, or your ministry position.
You are marked by His Presence.

Police officers carry badges. Doctors wear stethoscopes. Firefighters wear gear.
But the believer’s badge is the Presence of God.
That’s what makes you different.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
A believer without the Presence is like a lamp without oil — it still has a shape but no shine.
POINT 3 — DESPERATION BIRTHS PURSUIT
POINT 3 — DESPERATION BIRTHS PURSUIT
Scripture: Psalm 63:1 — “My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You…”
Desperation turns desire into pursuit.
You stop waiting for church to stir you.
You stir yourself.

When someone’s child goes missing, they drop everything to search.
Their job, their schedule, their meals—nothing matters except the search.
Why? Because relationship creates urgency.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
You chase what you love, and you pursue what you can’t live without.
When God becomes essential, pursuit becomes natural.
POINT 4 — HIS PRESENCE REQUIRES SURRENDER
POINT 4 — HIS PRESENCE REQUIRES SURRENDER
Scripture: James 4:8 — “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”
Desperation brings you to the end of yourself.
You can’t carry pride, ego, secret sin, bitterness, or stubbornness into His presence.
You drop what doesn’t belong.

Airport security makes you empty your pockets and drop anything that doesn’t pass inspection.
God’s Presence works the same way—
You can enter, but not everything you carry is allowed through.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
You cannot cling to the world with one hand and cling to God with the other.
POINT 5 — GOD RESPONDS TO DESPERATE CRIES
POINT 5 — GOD RESPONDS TO DESPERATE CRIES
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:13 — “You will seek Me and find Me… when you search for Me with all your heart.”
God is not moved by casual prayers.
He is moved by desperate ones.

Blind Bartimaeus cried out for Jesus.
The crowd tried to silence him.
But desperation made him cry louder.
And Jesus stopped—for a desperate man.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Desperation stops God in His tracks.
He comes where He is wanted—deeply, passionately, wholeheartedly.
POINT 6 — HIS PRESENCE TRANSFORMS EVERYTHING
POINT 6 — HIS PRESENCE TRANSFORMS EVERYTHING
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:17 — “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
One moment in His presence can do more than years of counseling, striving, or trying harder.
His presence breaks chains, heals wounds, restores identity, and renews the mind.

Think of a phone that hasn’t been charged.
No matter how much potential it has, it can’t function without being plugged in.
The Presence of God is your spiritual charger—
you weren’t designed to run without Him.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Transformation is not a product of willpower but a product of presence.
POINT 7 — DESPERATION MUST BECOME A LIFESTYLE
POINT 7 — DESPERATION MUST BECOME A LIFESTYLE
Scripture: Psalm 27:4 — “One thing I have desired of the Lord…”
Not one season.
Not one revival weekend.
Not one emotional moment.
A lifestyle.

They train daily because their destiny depends on it.
Your spiritual destiny depends on your daily pursuit of His presence.
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Spirit-Filled Thought:
Revival is not an event you attend. It’s a lifestyle you guard.
CONCLUSION — RETURN TO THE ONE THING
CONCLUSION — RETURN TO THE ONE THING
God is restoring the hunger of the early church—
a burning, trembling, holy longing for Him.
Not for blessings.
Not for breakthrough.
Not for miracles.
For Him.
His presence is the prize.
He’s calling you deeper.
ALTAR CALL — COME, HUNGRY ONE
ALTAR CALL — COME, HUNGRY ONE
If your heart is crying, “Lord, I want more of You,”
this altar is for you.
If you’re tired of shallow Christianity…
if you’re done with casual devotion…
if you feel the emptiness of religion without encounter…
if your soul is thirsty and nothing in this world can quench it…
Come.
Lift your hands and pray:
“Lord, I’m desperate for Your Presence.
I want You more than anything else in this world.
Remove everything in me that hinders Your glory.
Ignite fresh fire.
Take me deeper.
Let Your Presence be my life.”
And He will come.
He always comes
to the desperate.
