Introduction

Greetings…
Today, we are going to begin a mini-series that I have not really ever done in this particular month.
We are going to be looking over the next four weeks God’s Plan Of Redemption.
Now, the reason I have not done this in the past, in December is because of the very fact that there is so much confusion over the Christmas holiday season.
However, I instead of simply ignoring this month and what most people are thinking, I thought it would be good instead for us to focus on how we might help those who think it is scriptural to celebrate the birth of Christ in holiday form.
So, for this month, as I said, we are going to focus on God’s Plan of Redemption, which certainly includes the birth of the Messiah to the virgin Mary, but from a biblical perspective so that we all might have, not only a refresher ourselves, but a reminder of how we might help those struggling with this today.
Before we can even begin to discuss the birth of the Messiah we must go back to where the beginning and focus on “God’s Promise” to mankind.
Before God made his promise to all of humanity in Genesis 3:15 what was…

The State Of Mankind

Utter Chaos

Everything in the beginning of creation went from the most wonderful of situations to the most chaotic of situations.
When God created the universe in six 24 hour days, he created everything “good.”
Genesis 1:31 ESV
31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
1 Timothy 4:4 ESV
4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving
God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, made specifically for him, and then made Eve, realizing it was not good for man to be alone.
Genesis 2:15 ESV
15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Genesis 2:18 ESV
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
However, as you and I know too well, Satan entered the Garden of Eden, and sin entered the world.
Now, as you know, Eve certainly was deceived and sinned which the Paul makes clear in 1 Timothy 2:14.
1 Timothy 2:14 ESV
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
But, she was not the first human to sin, it was her husband Adam.
1 Corinthians 15:21–22 ESV
21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
Romans 5:12 ESV
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned
From this point forward sin has caused spiritual and physical death for humanity.
It has caused this beautiful “very good” world to become chaotic and out of harmony with God.
Genesis 6:5–6 ESV
5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.
Romans 1:22 ESV
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools
Romans 1:26–27 ESV
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Romans 1:28–29 ESV
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Romans 1:30–32 ESV
30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Summary

God, having witnessed his beloved creation separate themselves from him, came down to see his children, but sin had caused Adam and Eve to “hide from God.”
The heartbreak a parent feels when their children do something so horrible they hide from their parents in shame, can only give a parent a glimpse into the pain this must have cause the Creator of all things.
God, knowing the results of sin on his beloved creation from this point forward (Isaiah 46:10), showed not only great love, but great mercy, and compassion not instantly giving Adam and Eve what they earned, death.
Yes, God punished Adam, Eve, and even Satan, but he also made a promise to Satan that would effect all of humanity.
God promised Satan…

A Messiah For Mankind

The Adam Of Life

As I mentioned, God had to punish Adam and Eve for this sin.
Adam was punished with hard labor for the rest of his life which ended up being some 930 years.
Eve was punished with pain in childbearing and emptiness without male leaders.
Both were even removed from the very Garden of Eden that was made for them, never to enter back into it.
But, God also punished Satan with a promise to him.
Satan strove to destroy God’s beloved creation with sin, yet God made a promise to him which was…
Genesis 3:15 NKJV
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.
God’s promise was that Satan, would not have ultimate victory over God’s creation.
That, even though sin separated man from God (Isaiah 59:1-2), God would send an “Seed” by way of his beloved creation, to crush Satan, even though Satan would not be crushed without a fight.
From that point forward, until the fulness of time would come (Galatians 4:4-5), God would make sure that his creation did not forget that promise he made to Satan.
God continually promised that this Seed of woman would bear our griefs and sorrows by being pierced for our transgressions.
Isaiah 53:4–6 ESV
4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
God continually promised that this Seed would come from the very creation that Satan had tried to eternally destroy.
Isaiah 7:14 ESV
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 9:6–7 ESV
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
God continually promised that this Seed would bring forth a better covenant based on better promises.
Jeremiah 31:31–33 ESV
31 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Ezekiel 36:26–27 ESV
26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Summary

God made a promise to Satan, that all of humanity, past and present, have been blessed by.
God would not allow Satan to have the last word on our salvation.
God would send a Messiah, the “Adam of Life.”
Romans 5:12–13 ESV
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— 13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.
Romans 5:14–15 ESV
14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
Romans 5:16–17 ESV
16 And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17 For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:18–19 ESV
18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
Romans 5:20–21 ESV
20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Conclusion

God’s promise to Satan at the peak of Satan’s glee at causing God’s beloved to die spiritually, was that God love would make away of escape from the very thing Satan used to cause us to be lost from God.
Many of you here today are the product of that great promise and love of God.
As God blesses you each and every day, don’t loose site of God’s great love for you, and his desire for you to spend an eternity with him.
Some here have not tasted of that freeing gift of salvation.
Why wait!!!!
Invitation
Isaiah 59:1–2 ESV
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Philippians 2:6–7 ESV
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Acts 17:30 ESV
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent
Luke 14:33 ESV
33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
Matthew 10:32–33 NKJV

1 Corinthians 15:1–4 ESV
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures
Romans 6:3–5 ESV
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
James 2:12 ESV
12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.
