Message Title: Faithfulness Before Overflow

ME: Tacos with Aria

We: How often do we do this?

How often do we do that with God?
How often do we ask God for more and He's looking at us wondering why we didn't finish the plate He already gave us?
How often are we watching someone else's plate instead of managing my plate?

God:

Matthew 25:14
“man” = Jesus
“journey” = Him ascending and coming back later,
“his wealth/resources” = means that what we have is from God. It’s HIS not OURS.
This passage is not just about money but that’s why money doesn’t have a desire behind it. It’s a tool… BUT once it touches someones hand it then get’s used how they want. It often reveals what is in the person’s heart. Matthew 6:21 - Where your treasure is… there’s your heart. That’s why sometimes money with one person can be rent, giving to church, blessing others. And money with another person could be spent on self pleasure, only fans, and gambling.
Matthew 25:15 - God decides what He gives to us . Different amounts & resources. This is why we shouldn’t envy others who have more or look down on those who have less. We’re just to be faithful with what WE are given.
Matthew 25:16-17 -
“went at once” - They took it serious. They knew this came from the master and they wanted to do well with what was given to them.
Because they were faithful with what was given… God supplied more.
Matthew 25:18
Why dig and bury? = This was a normal 1st reaction to fear. When you think someone could take it… you dig and hide it.
This is key - It took work for the first 2 to go and multiply what was given. But this guy dug a hole… IT TAKES WORK TO DIG A HOLE. You can look busy and still do nothing for the kingdom of God. YOU GOT TIME TO DO EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE STUFF GOD WANTS YOU TO DO IN THIS SEASON YOU IN.
Matthew 25:19-23
I want to point this out… “few things” = Everything we manage and do here is a “few things” to God. That keep’s us humble and in the right frame of mind. A humble servant who knows the master has access to more than we’ve seen is a servant that wants to do well with what is given.
Matthew 25:24-27
When face to face the servant responds with a bad understanding of who the master is. Makes an excuse based on a bad judgement of the master
The master shows what he wanted… Faithfulness / Intention / Something done with what was given.

You: What’s on your plate?

For some of us it’s God you’ve given me: These finances… how can I serve you more today than I did yesterday? This spouse… This family… This church…
I know for me lately I look at my wife and think “Help me to be more faithful as a husband to the wife you’ve given me.”
What has God already asked me to do that I keep delaying? As you go into 2026 soon… What has God tasked you with that you need to steward faithfully?

We: We’re all making decisions together that will help us be a church that’s faithful to the master

We’re going to be a church that Overflows blessings into this city because we choose to be faithful today with what God has given us.

Alter Call:

Giving Day is special… I spoke to a few people this week who wrote words last year. We’re asking you to trust God by writing a word over yourself or your family today. We’re not telling God to do something exactly… where asking God to help us align a part of our life however he wants. “God I desire to walk in freedom more and not give into temptations… so my word for 2026 is Freedom… and I trust YOU to provide however you desire” So we want you to truly take a moment and think where in your life right now do you need to align more with God’s desire. And write a word down for your 2026. And we believe it’s important where we put our treasure because it aims our heart like Matthew 6:21 said This is between you and God . There’s no spot to put your name on that card or envelope. This is for you to start your journey of giving to God’s kingdom consistently in your tithing or giving above and beyond today as you trust God with this next season. It’s an act of trust… I trust you with my 2026 because you are the master. This is between YOU and GOD. We’re inviting you to trust God with your giving. This is an invitation for you to see what God might do in your life this coming year if you were faithful. (Kayla plays while we reflect) - If you wrote something down in faith for your 2026… as we worship… come lay that down here
