Does Christmas offer genuine hope?

ARGUMENT

What we need is another angle on Christmas

Not the Baby in a manger. three wise men. Star in the sky.

(L) but DNA. Soft tissue. Haemoglobin.

Hebrews 2:14 “Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things,"

The Son of God, taking on flesh and blood.

What does it take for a human being to become a dog?

Anatomical, body frame, restructuring.

Unimaginable

Human to dog

God to man

Share in DNA, Soft tissue, and haemoglobin.

But why? flesh and blood?

God comes as a baby… to die.

Only the flesh and blood can perish and die.

But at this point. How does death give hope?

offspring of Abraham. that’s us. He helps us

Help - fascinating word in the original.

Help - literally takes us by the hand.

(A) drowning? Sinking deeper into the waters… Me? no. Maybe you.

drowning into death and evil

joins us in the mess.

Hand grab.

Out of death. Slavery.

Pull into new life.

Does Christmas offer genuine hope?

More than vibes

Read problems. of evil and death

Take by hand. drag out of chaos into life.

So the carol goes -

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices

As he drags us out...

As yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn.

Sure it’s not angels that he helps, but he helps us.

Christmas hope - big things, death and evil. but small things? come back.
