Jesus brings joy into all circumstances.
Luke 2:10-11.
10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Joy in all circumstances is attained by processing life through God’s redemption.
Let’s take a look at 1 Peter 1:3-6.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you rejoice, .…
We have joy in all circumstances because we have been born again to a living hope.
We have joy in all circumstances because we have an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.
We have joy in all circumstances because God is guarding all of this for us to be revealed at his coming.
1 Peter 1:6-9.
6 .… though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,
9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
We should not expect that our joy in Jesus is without grief.
Yet we should not allow that temporary grief of trials to steal the inexpressible joy given to us in Jesus.
Rather, we see trials as a refining tool to show us that our faith is genuine because we know that no trial is bigger than Jesus. We know that no trial can turn us from loving Jesus, because he first loved us.
It is in this relationship with Jesus that we find inexpressible joy, being filled with his glory.
Isaiah foretold this day of joy in Jesus in Isaiah 12.
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.
“Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth.
Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
The Chosen has captured a taste of this joy in the Triumphal Entry of Jesus.
