John 14:21-25

21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.

Judas (not Iscariot), Thaddeus, and Lebbaeus

1.Do you have his commandments? Where?
2.Do you keep God’s commandment?
3.Do you love Jesus?
4.Are you loved by God?
5.Has Jesus manifested himself to you?

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?”

He was asking Jesus to clarify about the Messiah’s mission and about the kingdom.
Manifest: to make clear or evident; show plainly:
Some people still wanted Jesus to conquer Israel and overthrow the Roman occupation.
The kingdom of God is not of this world.

23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

This sounds more like a relationship than a religion.
Love equals obedience
Is he first in your life?
The Home for God is our heart.
God loves the world. The bible tells us so.
God hates sin.

24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.

The law tells us how we sin against God.
“who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬
Jesus lived the law completely. Perfectly.
That is what separates Christ’s sacrifice apart from anything or anybody else.
We should follow his example.

25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit is how God manifests himself to us.
The Holy Spirit has the authority of God because He is God- capitalization
The Holy Spirit is the best teacher.
The Holy Spirit reminds us about God’s Word when we need it most- remembrance all that I have said to you. Will you have anything to remember?
Jeremiah 31:33

33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

The Holy Spirit resides in you to make you Holy, like God.
Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14, ESV)
Do you keep his commandments in the mind or the heart?
God has sent four things to the world:
1.His Word
If the KING is supreme, His WORD is Supreme; the Word reveals Jesus Christ to us
2. His Son- JESUS
When the world needed God, God did not turn his back on the world, God sent himself. Jesus reveals God to us.
3.Holy Spirit- The HELPER
4.You- Those who LOVE GOD
“They are taking God out of the world!” That's what Christmas is all about.
Matthew 28:16-20

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.

17 And when they saw him they worshipped him, but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
