I Was Made to Praise the Lord - Pt. 3
I Was Made to Praise the Lord - Pt. 3
Places you’d be happy/unhappy to praise the Lord in...
The place we are in and the things happeneing to us should not affect how we praise the Lord.
Remember Paul & Silas? They praised God in the toughest and roughest times.
Paul and Sials were in Philippi ministering to the Christians in that area. While visiting among the believers, Paul and Silas were followed by a demon-possessed girl. The girl cried loudly, “These men are the servants of the most high God, and they tell us the way of salvation!” She did this for moanu days until Paul turned to her and commanded the demon to come out in Christ’s name.
Masters were angry
Can’t use her for money anymore
Capture Paul and Silas and bring them to the police
20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, “These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city;
21 and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe.”
The men gather a mob
Apostles are arrested, beaten and thrown in prison
How would you feel if you were there right now? Would you find it easy to praise the Lord?
Does someone remember what Paul and Silas did at midnight? (Sang praises and prayed)
God sent an earthquake!
Prisoners set free
Prison guard about to kill himself
Paul stops him
29 Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.
30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Imagine someone asking that to you! What do I have to do to get saved?
How would you answer that question?
Here’s how Paul answered it...
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
The jailor received Christ along with all of his family and then they got baptized immediately. How awesome is that!
Would any of this have happened if Paul and Silas didn’t sing in prison? (Maybe not!)
Maybe God would have decided to leave them in prison if they didn’t praise Him there. But they did praise HIm, and He set them free. It was so powerful that even the jailor got saved. We won’t always be in places we want to be, we will face times when whe feel like we can’t praise God, but we always need to be ready to praise, you never know who is listening!
