It means God saves. In the times of the Israelites, many of the names were not given haphazardly. For instance, Moses name meant, “drawn out of the water” and Isaiah meant “Yahweh saves.” Abraham “Father of a multitude.” The fact is each name stated purpose and usually, the person would live out that purpose.
