Why Christmas?

This holiday is so much more than a day for presents and good food .

The messiah that was proficient since the 2 chapter of genesis 4000 years of history, prophets the messiah that is coming to bring the light to darkness 

2000 years from Adam to Abraham and another 2000 from Abraham to Jesus.

For 4000 years sin ran rampant 

The state of man’s heart was eternally far from God

Relationship with him was limited 

Access to the heart and character of God was behind a closed door.

Example Transformation Church

The King creates the his kingdom and has one rule that no one is allowed to take the jewel 

The dragon convinces the princess whom the king loves so dearly to do this and because of this access is extremely limited compared to what it was before. She is removed. And the king raises up walls to protect his creation from anything that would alter his design.

The Monologe the King has with himself and he is full or Anger , sadness and tears . And he goes back and forth 

I want to be close to you , but you have made loving you complicated.

But how I love you so much 

He proposes a plan to send the prince to fight a battle and on behalf of the kingdom.

Today we celebrate the fulfillment of that plan.

While Jesus walked this earth he made a few bold claims about who he is. many people where asking him who is? over 20 times he is asked.

When Jesus says “I am” (Greek: ego eimi), He’s echoing God’s name in Exodus 3:14.

I am the Bread of Life (John 6:35)

I am the Door (John 10:7)

I am the Good Shepherd (John 10:11)

I am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25)

I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)

I am the True Vine (John 15:1)

The One i want to look out today is:

I Am The Light Of The World

John 8:12 NIV

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

What does it mean for Jesus to the light?

When jesus calls himself the light , he uses light as a analogy and a metaphor to help the people understand the charicterisc of light to the charteeristics of himself . 

It’s both reality and a metaphor 

While light will unveil things in the dark 

Light reveals what’s hidden 

Light guides the way

Light provides life

Light warms

Light dispels Darkness

He is more than just the charicteristics of Light

He is the source of truth and life

He reveals the heart character of God

He  guides us out of darkness

Jesus brings life and joy

Just like the sun is source , it doesn’t need help from any external source.

you cant sell light to the sun

light is a by product of the sun just exsisting

Light the jesus is communicating exposes sin, deceit, and error, but also shows God’s glory.

Why is this this important?

the should bring so much comfort to us, reminds us he is the answer

Even if in promiciity to Fear, hopelessness, confusion, and death that they are all God’s light can overcome .

There is no battle of light and darkness when you turn the lights on in a dark room, the darkness retreats

The question for us is have we let him be the source in our life?

We have options today

They promise truth but never deliver something that sustains and that’s stable.

Are there areas that haven't let him touch in our heart?

are there dreams and goals he has given you that you have been scared to fully give back to him

because even though to say you want to know ….. you might not trust him as much as you say

What would it look for us to let him our source?

Jesus Says 2 more statements that that i want look at they are dependent on this first statement.

You Are The Light Of The World 

Matthew 5:14–16 (ESV)

14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

What does it mean for us to bear that light .

He says this to his followers those who allowed him to their source of life

first thoughts are if you are the light

But in no shape of form are we the source

We reflect his character and nature 

We are simply light bearers, the he that we has isn’t ours. It’s a reflection of Christ.

here is the hard part about the truth of this statement

christians historically havent done the greatest reflecting the heart of christ

honestly if you look back at church the church has been on the wrong side of alot of injustice isses esplescialy in the US

If the Christian haven’t done yet greatest job reflecting the light does it mean that there’s something wrong with the light.

Just because someone or institution didnt reflect jesus while dosnt mean there is something wrong with jesus

This is why it’s important to make sure that we are bearing his image not our own.

We aren’t drawing people to ourselves,

We are drawing them closer to him

Bring The Light

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””

What does it mean for us to bring his light.

we know havet he prilvlage to bring the light to people who are still in darkness

and set them ablaze with God has done in ourlives

becuase the goodness of god that we have experinced is shared

this power is different it has been passed down with a purpose. To save people, to annilate evil and to inspire to more. To bring hope. and as it stronger and stronger

The Gospel in the sameway has the power to bring hope to the hopeless , to bring strength to the weak . Endurance to the weary.

But it requires us to pass it along

whether its today or the future there are going to be people that we encounter who are despresllty in need of a saviour

My hope is that the gospel has been so good that
