2Ti 2:14-26. Dan Kroon. In the second half of 2 Timothy 2, Paul continues to use metaphors to explain the way of discipleship and discipling others. He shows this way by contrasting the things we should flee and the things we should pursue. Like unashamed workers, we pursue straight, gospel teaching. Like special household articles, we pursue purity, righteousness, faith and love. Like servants in God’s house, we pursue kind and gentle instruction. All the while avoiding dodgy teaching, evil desires, and stupid arguments. This is what it means to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. Because he pursued what was true (and was truth itself) and avoided what was false.
