ME: Moving
Moving around a lot when I was younger.
Not Really being able to get to know a place very well.
WE: Being vs. Living Somewhere
There's a difference between being in a place and living in a place.
GOD: Jesus Moves Into the Neighborhood
Read
John 1:10-14
The movement John shows us:
vs. 10-11: Jesus was in the world
But vs. 14 goes further: He "made his dwelling among us"
Unpack "made his dwelling":
Greek: "to pitch a tent" or "to tabernacle"
His response: Grace AND Truth
Not grace or truth
Not truth without grace (just judgment)
Not grace without truth (just permissiveness)
Grace and truth: together, inseparable
YOU: Live Out Grace and Truth in Community
John's question to us:
If Jesus moved in, committed fully to living among us in grace and truth, what does that mean for how we live?
Community reflecting the incarnation
Grace and truth, dwelling among us
Final Sentence: Jesus didn't just visit; he moved into the neighborhood and he's inviting us to do the same.
