Lamentations 3:22–23 KJV 1900

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

INTRODUCTION

Church, I want you to picture with me for a moment the city of Jerusalem in ruins.

The temple—that magnificent house of God—reduced to rubble and ash.

The people of God scattered like sheep without a shepherd.

Everything they thought was permanent, everything they trusted in, everything they built their lives upon—gone.

Can you see it?

Can you feel the devastation?

But despite the devastation, in the center of that chaos, in the heart of that hopelessness, there's a voice crying out!

It's not a voice of defeat—it's a voice of declaration!

It's not a voice of despair—it's a voice of hope!

It's the voice of Jeremiah, and he's about to teach us something about the power of a spiritual RESET!

THE REALITY OF OUR NEED FOR RESET

Saints, let's be honest this evening—we live in a reset generation!

Your computer needs a reset when it freezes up.

Your phone needs a reset when it stops working right.

Your router needs a reset when the internet goes down.

But church, what do you do when your SOUL needs a reset?

What do you do when your spirit feels frozen?

What do you do when your faith feels like it's buffering?

What do you do when your connection to heaven seems to be down?

Somebody in here knows what I'm talking about!

You've been running on empty.

You've been going through the motions.

You've been saying the right words but your heart feels distant.

You've been in church but you haven't been in His presence.

You need a RESET!

The children of Israel needed a reset—they had trusted in their own strength and found themselves in Babylonian captivity.

David needed a reset—after his sin with Bathsheba, he cried out "Create in me a clean heart, O God!"

Peter needed a reset—after denying Christ three times, Jesus asked him "Do you love me?"

And church, if you're honest this evening, you need a reset too!

THE REASON FOR OUR HOPE: GOD'S MERCIES NEVER FAIL

But here's the good news that Jeremiah discovered in his darkest hour

The text says “Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed!"

Let me break this down for you, church:

The Hebrew word for "mercies" means the deep, tender compassion of a loving parent.

It's not just pity

it's passionate love!

It's not just sympathy

it's active compassion!

It's not just feeling sorry for you

it's God moving heaven and earth to help you!

When you should have been consumed by your mistakes—His mercy said "Not today!"

When you should have been destroyed by your decisions—His mercy said "I've got you!"

When you should have been finished by your failures—His mercy said "We're not done yet!"

Somebody tonight ought to thank Him for His mercy!

Because His compassions—they don't fail!

The word "fail" in Hebrew means "to be complete" or "to come to an end."

Church, God's mercy has no expiration date!

God's compassion has no limit!

God's love has no boundaries!

You can't use it all up!

You can't wear it out!

You can't exhaust His supply!

When man's mercy runs out, God's mercy runs over!

When human compassion fails, divine compassion flows!

When earthly help gives up, heavenly help shows up!

THE RENEWAL: NEW MERCIES EVERY MORNING

But now we get to the heart of the reset message

”h”e text says: They are new every morning!"

Church, I need you to understand what this means for your spiritual reset:

Every morning is a fresh start with God!

Every sunrise is a new beginning!

Every dawn is a divine do-over!

You don't have to wait until New Year's Day to start over with God.

You don't have to wait until next month to get right with God.

You don't have to wait until next week to reset your spiritual life.

God's reset button is available every single morning!

This morning, when you opened your eyes—new mercies!

Yesterday's failures don't define today's possibilities!

Last week's mistakes don't determine this week's potential!

Last month's mess-ups don't dictate this month's miracles!

Because His mercies are NEW every morning!

The word "new" in Hebrew means fresh, unused, recently created!

God's not giving you recycled mercy!

God's not giving you hand-me-down compassion!

God's not giving you leftover love!

Every morning, He creates fresh mercy just for you!

Custom-made compassion!

Tailor-fitted forgiveness!

Personally-designed grace!

Somebody ought to jump up and praise Him!

THE RESPONSE: GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS

And then Jeremiah declares—"Great is Your faithfulness!"

Church, when you understand God's reset power, your only response can be to declare His faithfulness!

He's faithful to forgive!

He's faithful to restore!

He's faithful to renew!

He's faithful to reset!

When you've been unfaithful—He remains faithful!

When you've been inconsistent—He remains constant!

When you've been unreliable—He remains dependable!

Because great is His faithfulness!

This is why we can wake up every morning with hope!

This is why we can face each day with confidence!

This is why we can approach His throne with boldness!

Because His faithfulness is GREAT!

Not small—But GREAT!

Not limited—But GREAT!

Not conditional—But GREAT!

How great?

Greater than your sin!

How great?

Greater than your shame!

How great?

Greater than your situation!

He is faithful!

THE RESET: PRACTICAL STEPS FOR SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

So how do we activate this reset in our lives?

Let me give you some practical steps:

1. RECOGNIZE YOUR NEED

Stop making excuses and admit you need a fresh start!

Stop blaming others and take responsibility for your spiritual condition!

Stop running and come to God honestly!

The first step to reset is recognition!

2. REPENT FROM YOUR HEART

True repentance is more than saying "I'm sorry"—it's changing direction!

It's not just feeling bad about sin—it's forsaking sin!

It's not just regret—it's reformation!

Turn around and turn to God!

3. RECEIVE HIS MERCY

Don't try to earn what's freely given!

Don't try to work for what's already purchased!

Don't try to deserve what's graciously offered!

Just receive His mercy by faith!

4. RECOMMIT TO HIS PURPOSES

A true reset involves a fresh commitment to God's will!

A renewed dedication to His word!

A restored passion for His kingdom!

Reset your priorities according to His purposes!

5. REMEMBER HIS FAITHFULNESS

Keep a testimony of God's goodness!

Remember His past provisions!

Recall His previous deliverances!

Let His faithfulness fuel your faith!

Closing

As I close, I want you to understand the power of God's reset:

It's the power to start over when you thought it was over!

It's the power to begin again when you thought you were finished!

It's the power to rise up when you thought you were down for the count!

Some of you came on here this evening thinking it was too late.

Some of you thought you had messed up too many times.

Some of you thought God was through with you.

But I've got good news for you!

God's mercy is new every morning!

God's compassion is fresh today!

God's faithfulness is great right now!

You can reset your relationship with Him!

You can reset your commitment to His word!

You can reset your dedication to His church!

You can reset your passion for His kingdom!

Because through the Lord's mercies, you are not consumed!

Because His compassions fail not!

Because they are new every morning!

Because great is His faithfulness!

This is your reset moment!

This is your fresh start!

This is your new beginning!

The power to reset is in your hands!

The mercy to start over is before you!

The grace to begin again is available now!

Some of you need to reset your prayer life—come to his altar!

Some of you need to reset your commitment to God—the altar is waiting!

Some of you need to reset your entire relationship with Christ—thealtar is calling!

Don't let this moment pass you by!

Don't miss your reset opportunity!

Don't walk away from your fresh start!

Come now!

Come today!

Come and reset your life in God!

Because His mercies are new every morning!

And great—how great—GREAT is His faithfulness!

He's a reset God!

He's a restoration God!

He's a renewal God!

And He's ready to reset your life right now!

Come on somebody!

Come and let God reset your life!

Reset!

Refocus!

Revive!

In Jesus' mighty name!
