THE BIBLE

1A. The Names of the Bible.

Just as we learn about God from the Names that are given to describe Him, so also we learn about the Bible from its various names. Here are some of them:

1B. The Word of God

Hebrews 4:12 NASB95
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is not just man's book filed with man's ideas, thoughts and personal opinions. It is God's Word. God is the Author of this amazing Book. Compare Romans 10:17.
Romans 10:17 NASB95
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

2B. The Word of  Truth

2 Timothy 2:15 NASB95
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
(2 Timothy 2:15). This Book is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. It is completely trustworthy. There are no mistakes, no errors, no contradictions. If it is God's Word, how can it contain error?

3В. The Word of Life

Philippians 2:16 NASB95
16 holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
(Philippians 2:16). The Bible is a "LIVING" Book (see Hebrews 4:12 where God's Word is said to be "quick" or "living"). When the message of the Bible is understood and believed, then lives are changed (2 Cor. 5:17). The person who believes in the Christ of the Bible has everlasting life.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB95
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

4B. The Holy Scriptures

Romans 1:2 NASB95
2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures,
(Romans 1:2). The word "Scriptures" means "writings" and the word "holy" means that these writings are different and set apart from all other writings. There is no other book like the Bible. The Bible is totally unique. It is the only Book God has given to us. One man said, "I believe the Bible from cover to cover and I even believe the cover because it says 'Holy Bible.'" May we ever treat God's Word with utmost respect and reverence (see Isaiah 66:1-2).
Isaiah 66:1–2 NASB95
1 Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? 2 “For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.
