A NEW THING
A NEW THING
Remember ye not the former things,
Neither consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing;
Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness,
And rivers in the desert.
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPTS OF NEW YEAR:
In Ancient Egypt: This holiday was celebrated when Nile flooded, usually near the end of September. The people celebrated by taking the statues there god Amon, his wife and son up the Nile by boat, singing, dancing and feasting. for a month, than the status was returned.
In Babylon: New Year was at spring. During the festival, the king was stripped of his clothes and sent away, and for a few days there was a relaxation of laws. Than the king returned in grand procession, dressed in fine ropes. Everyone returns to work to work and behaved properly. Indicating a new start.
In Rome, the New Year was call the Calends, and people decorated their homes and gave gifts. It was emperor Jelius Caesar who began the the calendar system in which the first month was named for the two-faced god Janus
The Jewish, Rosh Hashanah, is the holy time when people consider things they have done wrong in the past and promise to do better in the future.
The Muslim Calendar is based on the movements of the moon, so the dates of New Year is eleven days earlier each year.
INTRODUCTION:
Stuck in yesterday vision: As we stand at a threshold of 2026, , I want to speak to those who feel stuck. Some of you came into this service carrying the weight of unfulfilled dreams from 2025. You started last year with such hope, such vision, but somewhere along the way, that fire died out. The motivation that once drove you has turned to dust, and you find yourself asking, "What's the point?" Maybe you're the entrepreneur who launched that business with such passion, but now you can barely find the energy to open the doors. Perhaps you're the student who started the year with academic goals, but now you're just going through the motions. Or maybe you're the believer who had such spiritual aspirations, but now your prayer life feels dry and your Bible reading feels like a chore. I want you to know that God sees you right where you are. He sees the disappointment in your eyes. He sees the dreams that have been deferred. He sees the vision that has grown dim. But I've come to tell you today that your current state is not your final destination. The lack of motivation you feel is not a life sentence. The absence of vision you're experiencing is not permanent. You see, many of us are trapped by yesterday's failures. We're haunted by the goals we didn't reach, the promises we didn't keep, the vision that didn't manifest. We've allowed our past disappointments to cloud our future possibilities. But God is calling us to break free from the prison of yesterday's limitations.
God's Promise of New Things
God's Promise of New Things
Turn with me to Isaiah 43:18-19, where God speaks a powerful word over our lives: "Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?" This is not a suggestion from God; this is a command. He's telling us to stop dwelling on former things. Stop replaying the failures of 2025. Stop considering the disappointments of the past. Why? Because He's about to do something completely new in your life. Notice the urgency in God's voice: "now it shall spring forth." Not next year, not when you get your act together, not when you feel more worthy - but NOW. God is ready to release fresh vision into your life right now. He's ready to breathe new motivation into your spirit right now. He's ready to open doors that have been closed right now. The Hebrew word for "new" here is "chadash," which means fresh, new, unprecedented. God is not just offering you a recycled version of last year's dreams. He's not giving you the same old vision with a new coat of paint. He's offering you something completely fresh, something unprecedented, something that has never existed before in your life. But here's the key: God asks, "shall ye not know it?" He's asking if you'll have the spiritual sensitivity to recognize His new thing when it comes. Will you be so focused on yesterday's failures that you miss today's breakthrough? Will you be so discouraged by past disappointments that you can't see present possibilities?
The New Creature Reality
The New Creature Reality
Now let's look at 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Church, this verse is not just about salvation; it's about your capacity for fresh vision. When you accepted Christ, you didn't just get forgiveness - you became a new creature. You received a new nature, new capabilities, new potential. The old you that lacked vision has passed away. The old you that struggled with motivation is gone. The word "creature" here is "ktisis" in Greek, which means creation. You are literally a new creation in Christ. You have been recreated with the capacity to receive and walk in God's vision for your life. You are not limited by your past failures because you are not the same person who experienced those failures. This is why the enemy wants to keep you focused on yesterday. He knows that if you truly understand your new creature reality, you'll start operating in dimensions of vision and purpose that will threaten his kingdom. He knows that a believer who understands their new creation identity is a dangerous weapon in God's hands. But notice what Paul says: "all things are become new." Not some things, not most things - ALL things. Your capacity for vision is new. Your ability to receive divine direction is new. Your potential for success is new. Your motivation levels can be new. Everything about your relationship with purpose and calling has been made new in Christ. The question is not whether God has a fresh vision for your life - He does. The question is whether you'll embrace your new creature identity and position yourself to receive it.
From Spiritual Blindness to Clear Vision
From Spiritual Blindness to Clear Vision
Let me tell you what's really happening when you lack personal vision - you're experiencing spiritual blindness. It's not that God doesn't have a plan for your life; it's that your spiritual eyes need to be opened to see it. In
Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”
, Paul prays "that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling." Notice that Paul is praying for believers, people who are already saved, that their spiritual eyes would be opened to understand God's calling on their lives. Many of you have been trying to figure out your purpose with your natural mind, but vision comes through spiritual revelation. You've been looking for motivation through external circumstances, but true motivation comes from seeing what God sees for your future. When Elisha's servant was afraid because he could only see the enemy army surrounding them, Elisha prayed, "Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see." And when his eyes were opened, he saw that they were surrounded by horses and chariots of fire. The circumstances hadn't changed, but his perspective had been transformed. That's what needs to happen in your life today. You need your spiritual eyes opened to see the vision God has for your personal life in 2026. You need to see beyond your current circumstances to the possibilities that exist in the spirit realm. God has assignments waiting for you. He has purposes that only you can fulfill. He has doors that only you can walk through. But you'll never see them with natural vision. You need spiritual sight.
Walking in Your New Beginning
Walking in Your New Beginning
Church, I want to close by challenging you to step boldly into your new beginning. 2026 is not just another year - it's the year God wants to release fresh vision into your personal life. Stop making excuses about why you can't receive God's vision. Stop saying you're too old, too young, too inexperienced, or too broken. Remember, you are a new creature in Christ. Old limitations don't apply to your new creation identity. Stop waiting for perfect conditions to pursue God's vision for your life. Moses had a speech impediment, but God used him to deliver Israel. David was just a shepherd boy, but God made him king. Mary was just a teenager, but God chose her to birth the Messiah. Your current circumstances don't disqualify you from God's purposes. I want you to make a decision today. Decide that you will not carry the disappointments of 2025 into 2026. Decide that you will not allow past failures to limit future possibilities. Decide that you will position yourself to receive God's fresh vision for your personal life. As we enter 2026, I prophesy over your life that God is about to do something new. The motivation you've been lacking is about to be restored. The vision you've been missing is about to be revealed. The purpose you've been searching for is about to be unveiled. But you must partner with God in this process. You must seek Him with your whole heart. You must position yourself to hear His voice. You must be willing to step out of your comfort zone and into His calling. Church, your new beginning starts today. Your fresh vision is available now. Your divine motivation is being released in this moment. Don't leave this place the same way you came. Leave with expectation. Leave with hope. Leave with the confidence that God has something amazing in store for your personal life in 2026. Remember, you are not stuck in yesterday's limitations. You are positioned for tomorrow's breakthrough. Walk in your new beginning. Embrace your fresh vision. Step into the new thing God is doing in your life. In Jesus' name, amen.
