Who’s Really In Charge- The Body or the Mind?
Who’s Really In Charge- The Body or the Mind?
Biblically the mind is immaterial.
What is the way the brain affects the mind if they are not the same?
Psychosomatic relationship between the inner man and outer man:
Psalm 32:1–4
1 How blessed is the one whose rebellious acts are forgiven, whose sin is pardoned.
2 How blessed is the one whose wrongdoing the Lord does not punish, in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 When I refused to confess my sin, my whole body wasted away, while I groaned in pain all day long.
4 For day and night you tormented me; you tried to destroy me in the intense heat of summer. (Selah)
David describes the blessedness of forgiveness.
When I conceal my sins there is a psychosomatic affect!
My whole body waste away.
Concealing your sins brings with it a psychosomatic burden.
Sin is immaterial.
Sin is an immaterial barrier between you and the Lord.
When we harbor sins we are physiological affect by it.
If you do not understand the brain and mind dynamic, you will continue to take medication for something that is not a physical issue.
NOT EVERYTHING IS A MIND ISSUE, BUT SOME ARE.
Psalm 42:2-3
Psalm 43
The Organ of your brain is the filter of which the mind is expressing itself.
A teaching that became popular says, “Based off of traumatic events that have happened to you. Your body your physiology internalizes those and when you have been traumatized your body needs to be treated as well as any other immaterial part.”
Instead of saying the mind is the driver, the brain is the driver. Your body receives the imprint of trauma.
So what’s the solution?
Body remedies:
Yoga
Medications
Biblically what is going on with the body (brain)?
Physical life (birth) - Psalms 139:15
In the womb God forms you.
Development or growth with age - Luke 2:40-47
Sickness - Deuteronomy 7:15; 2 Kings 20; Luke 8:40-55; Luke 4
The body gets sick and the brain can contract a disease.
Cravings - Matthew 4
When you are brain dead your physical life stops existing.
The organ of your brain will cease existing, but your mind is now in the presence of God.
Our brains are NOT the cause of our thoughts.
Your brain CAN NOT make you respond immaterially!
If you say your brain causes your thoughts than you are using the brain in an unbilical way.
What cause your thoughts?
The MIND CAUSES YOUR THOUGHTS!
Your MIND IS THE DRIVER OF YOUR ACTIONS.
When a loved one contracts Alzheimer’s they can get so mean! It was in there mind already and Alzheimer removed the filter.
Your brain can’t make you think an impure thought.
What the brain causes is a material response.
What the mind causes is immaterial responses.
The line of demarcation (boundaries) must be maintained between the mind and brain.
2 Corinthians 4:16
Therefore we do not despair, but even if our physical body is wearing away, our inner person is being renewed day by day.
