The Year of Transformation: This Year We Grow Differently Scripture: Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Opening (Setting the Moment) Tonight, we stand on the edge of time—one year behind us, a new year before us. We are not just counting down seconds; we are crossing over in faith. Some of us are entering this new year tired, hopeful, grateful, or unsure. But God gives us a promise as we step forward: what He started, He will finish.
This is The Year of Transformation—and this year, we grow differently. 1. Transformation Is God’s Work, Not Just Our Effort
- Paul reminds the church that spiritual growth does not begin with human willpower—it begins with divine intention. “He who began a good work in you…”*
- Transformation starts with God. Not your resolutions. Not your discipline. Not your perfect attendance.
- If God started it, God sustains it. If He planted it, He will grow it. This year, we are releasing the pressure to “fix ourselves” and embracing the power of being shaped by God.
This year, we grow differently—by trusting God’s process. 2. Transformation Is a Process, Not a Moment
- The text says God will “carry it on to completion.” That means growth is ongoing. Some seasons feel slow. Some feel painful. Some feel hidden. But none are wasted.
- Transformation doesn’t always look like change on the outside. Sometimes it looks like peace where there used to be panic. Wisdom where there used to be reaction .Prayer where there used to be worry.
This year, we grow differently—by honoring the process, not rushing the promise. 3. Transformation Continues Even When Life Is Unfinished
- Paul wrote this while facing uncertainty, yet he was confident. Why? Because God is not finished.
- You may still be healing. Still learning. Still believing. But God has not abandoned His work in you. “…until the day of Christ Jesus.”
- God’s timeline is eternal. What feels delayed is still developing. What feels broken is still being built.
This year, we grow differently—by walking in confidence, not condemnation. 4. Transformation Produces Fruit That Looks Like Christ
- The goal of transformation is not just improvement—it is resemblance. Growth in love. Growth in grace. Growth in forgiveness. Growth in obedience. This year, we are not chasing perfection—we are pursuing maturity. We are allowing the Spirit to shape our hearts, our habits, and our homes.
This year, we grow differently—by becoming more like Jesus. Declaration (Corporate Moment) Say this with confidence: “God is not finished with me.”
“What He started, He will complete.”
“This is my Year of Transformation.”
“This year, I grow differently.”* **Closing Prayer** Lord, as we cross into this new year, we thank You for Your faithfulness. We trust You with our growth, our healing, and our becoming. Complete the work You began in us. Transform our minds, renew our spirits, and align our hearts with Your will. We step into this year confident, committed, and changed—by Your power and for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
