both tied to the idea of justice- what Jesus says here is more complicated than that

giving praying and fasting should all be done for the benefit of others and God

if your sole purpose of doing anything is to serve and build up your self, you are not practicing righteousness

Treasures in Heaven

motivated by the correct rewards

its all gonna burn anyway mentality

what you are working toward is where your heart is, your core, your identity and your end state

Anxiety

to complete the denial of self portion

the one who lives as though they are truly close to God trusts him completely

if all the other things are true, anxiety will be far from you

Application

the unfortunate truth is that you are the most anxious generation

you have the most access to the most information and the greatest ability to be interconnected with no consequences or physical engagement

long story short research has proven time and again that spending any significant portion of your time on your phone is awful for your mental health

God has given you a whole life wherein you have the opportunity to make a real impact where you are presently
