THE WIDOW AND THE JUDGE
THE WIDOW AND THE JUDGE
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
No man is greater than his prayer life.
Leonard Ravenhill
In exporing the matter of prayer we need to pay close attention to this parable, since Jesus told us the purpose of the parable before he shared it, thus emphasising the importance, lest it is overlooked and ultimately lost ,the purpose of this parable is to teach us that “men ought always to pray and not faint” as we explored in day one.
There are three key figures in this parable, a judge, a widow and the adversary of the widow and these three figures will be the focus of study today.
Firstly we will look at the widow, this is very profond because Jesus is teaching us a very powerful lesson about prayer, in using a widow he is showing us that prayer can be practiced by the feeble but if done consistantly the feeble will do mighty things
a widow that prays is mightier than a prince that does not in biblical days widows were seen as the lowest in society, she was feeble in status but not in spirit the only thing weak about her was her living conditions not her spiritual condition.
Secondly lets explore the judge it is imperative that in our pursuit of God in prayer that we see him as these three major figures Father,King and Judge, we shall explore the first two another day but our focus today is Judge.
The spirit realm is a legalistic realm it is governed by spiritual laws and God is the supreme Judge, so it makes sense why Jesus would
