Scripture Verse

1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Message: Relationships
As we gather here today, we are reminded:
We all will meet eternity one day; either through death or through Rapture.
Mom understood this, and formed a relationship with Jesus.
Mom also understood that:
Life is not about the accumulation of stuff.
Life is not about an occupation or stature.
Life is not about a Religion or Traditions.
** Life is about Relationships:
- Relationships with each other and a Relationship with GOD.
Without a relationship with GOD, we cannot be equipped with the Love, Compassion and Forgiveness needed to have a relationship with others.
We all make mistakes and hurt others.
We all need forgiveness from time to time.
** This is a time for forgiveness and healing.
This is a good time to pause and reflect on our priorities in life.
What is valuable to you?
What will you remember Bernadette for?
Legacy and inheritance:

- My mom did not have a lot of things.

What she did have was far more valuable, and the legacy she left me was priceless.
A personal relationship with Jesus was passed down to her from her mother.
I remember the love and devotion that Grandma Julia had with GOD.
She dedicated time to cultivate that relationship with him, and told everyone she ever met about him. Even at my young age I could see His light shining in her.
I saw that relationship grow in my mother as well.
It was not just going through motions, or acting out traditions. My mom pursued a relationship with GOD, and she would encourage me to always remember he is in control. At first Mom felt she was not worthy to speak to GOD directly, But when I shared with her that “That is why JESUS came into the world” her attitude and prayer-life changed.
She showed unending love for family and other people. She reflected His light
That Legacy of a relationship with Jesus passed down to me.
I saw GOD at work in there lives and it helped me decide I wanted a relationship with him to be part of my life.
What I received from her effects my eternity and changed my perspective of life.
My Mom was rich; just like her mother before her.
Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of his saints.”
I repeated this verse to remind us that when we have the relationship, we are The LORD’s saints. He is always watching over us. We may not always understand why thigs happen, but we can be assured that the LORD cares for us and Loves us.
How is your Relationship with him?
Benediction
Thank you for being here. This concludes our memorial service.
