1st Century Ephesus

Ephesus, Aegean coast, Major port city and Capital of the Roman province of Asia Minor (Insert map)
Present day Turkey  
Roads from north, south, and east converged in Ephesus.
Noted by 1st century Greek geographer “the city, because of its advantageous situation…grows daily and is the largest market in Asia on this side of the Taurus”
Very wealthy and the leading city of the richest region of the Roman Empire and known as “bustling and glamorous” 

Asia Minor

According to Irenaeus, It later became the home of John the apostle, who wrote in Revelation the letter to the seven churches, Ephesus being the first on the circuit.
