In our text today, God instructs Moses to remind Israel of His promise of deliverance from Egyptian bondage. His promise of deliverance is marked by 7 'I will' in verses 6–8. Israel, which faced constant burdens and hardships at the hands of the Egyptians, was given God’s promise of hope and deliverance. God wanted them to know that their burden was about to end and that He would bring them out of their affliction and into a land of promise. I do believe that those same promises are for us today as we enter into a new year. Many of us have faced some burdens that seemed unbearable to handle in 2025. You’ve suffered loss, you’ve been hurt by someone, and overwhelmed by all sorts of unforeseen circumstances, but God brought you out to bring you into this new year.
There are a few things that you need to remember about God as He brings you into this year of new beginnings, and this is
I.   He is a God who hears your cry:
1.   Exodus 6:5 “And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.”
a.  God had heard all the groaning from the children of Israel because the Egyptians had kept them in bondage. But God hadn’t forgotten the covenant that He had made with them.
b.  God has taken note of your tears you’ve shed over those who have broken their promises they have made. But aren’t you glad that God never forgets the promises He has made? All of your tears and all of your groaning have not gone unheard. God has taken note of them, and they have brought His covenant to His remembrance.
c.   The pain of losing a loved one, The pain of losing your job, The pain of losing your health. The worries and the tears you have shed over the welfare of your children. God knows all of your troubles and He has heard those cries!
i.    Psalm 34:17–19 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
II.  He is a God who will bring you out from your burdens (v. 6, 7)
1.   Exodus 6:6–7 “Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”
a. God said, I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. The Egyptians were the oppressor that put a lot of unfair burdens on Israel. God, who heard their cries, would bring them from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
i.  Their burdens was like a weight. Tuff times can come upon you like a weight that has become too heavy for you to bear. This is because you are trying to lift the heavy burden and have forgotten to turn it over to God. Listen, God told Israel that He would bring them out from under the burdens. God will bring you out from under the weight, from under the burden that you are dealing with.
ii.  Matthew 11:28–30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””
c.   I will rescue you from their bondage. In the Hebrew nawstal meaning is to deliver, to save, to snatch away.
i.    Hear me when I say this. I don’t care what type of bondage the enemy has tried to place you in. God can rescue you from the enemy’s attacks. He can deliver you from whatever bondage you are under. No matter what the addiction, the stronghold, or demonic influence, God has the power to rescue.
ii.  Just when the enemy thought he had you, God has come to snatch you away from the enemy's grasp and rescue you.
d.  I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. This means God will take back what was taken. He has done this by sending Jesus to redeem us from sin, dying on the cross and raising Him for our justification. Now there is no more condemnation for those who are in Christ. Since God has the power to redeem us from sin and bring us back to a right relationship with Him, He also has the power to redeem us from any harm, including the loss of our health, and from anything anyone has taken from us, our joy, our hope. And He’ll do it with an outstretched arm and with mighty judgments against them.
III.  He is a God that we will acknowledge for His mercy
1.   Exodus 6:7 “I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”
a.  God says that when He brings Israel out from bondage, they will know that I am the Lord your God.
b.  Isn’t it true that when you look back on 2025, some doubted you? But God pulled you through, and you had to acknowledge that it was only God.
c.   Many of you should not be here. But it was nobody but God.
iii. You should have been on the streets… but God.
iv. You should have had a nervous breakdown… but God.
v. You ought to thank God today in this new year. Look how far you’ve come in this past year. You have gone through some things, but it could have been worse. God brought you out so that you could know that He is God.
IV.  He is a God that will not only bring you out but He’ll bring you into a place of promise.
1.   Exodus 6:8 “And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.’ ””
a.  God tells Moses to tell Israel that He’ll bring them into the land He swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that He’ll give it to you as an inheritance.
b.  That’s what I love about God. God will not leave you in the same place. God will bring you out to bring in… You see Heritage in the Hebrew is morashah/mo-raw-shaw, which means a possession.
c.   So what God told Moses to tell Israel is being said to you, and it is because of the promises He has made, because of the cries He has heard you cry, and because of your burdens. God is going to bring you into this new year, not just leave you in a place, but you will possess all that He has for you.
i.   That’s a word for someone here this morning. God knows what you’ve been through in 2025. You’ve had your ups and downs. You’ve faced some trials and tribulations. But God has saved the best for last. For He has made promises He will not go back on! And you need to stand on those promises. Listen to what God has promised.
ii.  Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.””
iii. Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
iv. Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
2.   But you can’t look at your problems and forget His promises Exodus 14:10–12 “And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.””
3.   Israel wanted to go back into bondage under the Egyptians because of their fear of Pharoah and his army. They had forgotten what God had promised them and they didn’t want to go into the promise land.
“You cannot forget what God has promised you and you must be willing to go in.”
a.  But doubt and fear will make you want to return to the bondage that burdened you rather than enter into the promise that God has made.
b.  But God has a word for you when you are afraid. Look at the next verse Exodus 14:13 “And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.”
c.   Whatever you’re facing right now, don’t be afraid, just stand still, and see the salvation/Yeshua/deliverance of the Lord.
d.  Verse 14 says “the Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Give whatever it is over to the Lord, and the Lord will fight your battles, and stop complaining.
It is good to know that God fights on our behalf. Remember the Bible says in 2 Chron 20:15 that the battle is not yours, but God’s.
e.   Look at v.15 Exodus 14:15 “And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”
f.   Hear me. Once God brings you in, you can’t just stand there. You have to go forward. You have to have a mindset that nothing is going to hold me back!
i.    Set some new goals in this new year, embrace those challenges, trust God for victory, and go forward, for there is nothing too hard for God!
ii.  Go forward because God has brought you out of some things in 2025 to bring you into 2026 to possess a new beginning.  To bring you into a greater spiritual relationship with Him. But you have to go forward.
iii. God is bringing you into a new hope that you thought you lost.
iv. God is bringing you into new possibilities; He is bringing you into the purpose that He has determined for you.
