The Wage and the Gift

Scripture:

Romans 6:23 ESV

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Intro:

Hello, my name is Ricky and I am the Youth pastor in training at Legacy church. I have the honor to expound on Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

in Chapter 5 paul breaks down how we have been justified from sin through the righteousness of Jesus Christ. through the righteousness of Christ we have been delivered from the guilt and penalty of sin, so by the power and life of Christ in us we are delivered from the dominion of sin. a believer cannot live in sin. because of our newness of life we shouldn’t continue to surrender ourselves as instruments of inuquity.

you have passed from the realm of death and have come into the dominion of life. so we must act accourdingly to that life being - PURE, & HOLY

Romans 6 is breaking down how when we follow Jesus, our old life is Gone. we get a brand new identity, a new power, and a new purpose. Verse 23 ends the chapter with it being a hope diamond for unraveling the gospel.

Son- “You’ve prayed and believed your whole life, never done anything wrong.

And here you are, you’re the nicest person I know

I’m the meanest

You have dementia, my life is perfect. Explain that to me??”

Mother - “ sometimes the devil allows people to live a life free of trouble. Cause he doesn’t want them turning to God.

Your sin is like a jail cell except it’s all nice and comfy. Doesn’t seem like any need to leave. The doors wide open

Till one day time runs out, your cell door slams shut

And suddenly it’s too late.”
