A Life that’s On-Mission…!
A Life that’s On-Mission…!
Examine the flow of David’s poem & let his ex. instruct us in our ‘walk’ with Jesus.
…Remembers God’s Faithfulness.
…Remembers God’s Faithfulness.
Count your blessings! 1 Chronicles 16:9-10
1 Chronicles 16:9–10 “Sing to [Yahweh], sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.”
Keep an actual list.
There’s something makes it real when it’s written, by hand, in ink.
Pers. bad at this —mill., computer age!— handwr. atrocious!
Weekly? As-needed reminder?
Elsewh: AP “always give thanks… without ceasing… in Jesus”
Esp. if low season, but ALL the TIME. Habit, journal, commitment. Thought pattern.
Writing > thoughts > behaviors > worldview!
Little more poignant…
Honor God for pivotal moments in your story (like the 12 Stones, Joshua 4:6-7).
Joshua & Isr. cross Jordon R., erect altar of 12 stones (1 tribesman/stone)
Joshua 4:6–7 “[These 12 stones will] serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord… These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.””
Thank God out loud: a written prayer, a song, poem, painting, video, etc…
Really plan it out; ur lvl of dramatic; carefully; paintstakingly; create something.
Put some TLC into it!
Many times; testimony, yay, celebr., share post… kinda forget!
This?
Perform it, display it, showcase it—close friends, whole church/family etc!
Cement it with ceremony or pomp/circ. & drive home firmly: “God worked in my life.”
Honoring God’s prov'n in your life gives U courage 2B on-Mission for someone else >>
…Worships Together.
…Worships Together.
1 Chronicles 16:12–13 “Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.”
Isr. joining together, singing to one anoth.!
Certain portions of Pss. read personally, xp love or grace of God… SO many others use “we” or “y’all” language—sing to neighbor about God’s work or their resp. in worship.
Are we calling to one another, encouraging each other to sing praise, to worship??
For Isr.: Reed Sea, Sinai, Jericho, armies of Aram or Sisera, Goliath, Amalek, so many more!
Say often:
“You can’t do life alone!” “Grief demands a witness.” (Like in Exodus 17:12)
Healing happens when we can share, be vulnerable.
Festering occurs when we keep it in or keep others out!
Once, God used Moses’ arms to determine outcome of battle (raided by Amalek)
He, servant of MostHigh God, couldn’t keep them up; couldn’t win by h’self…
Exodus 17:12 “When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him & he sat on it. Aaron & Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.”
Mo’, tho called, orda’d, est., bles’d as Isr.’s leader… needed other ppls supp!
In moments of disappointment {ex. }, long to be heard, hugged, reassured, enc…
In good times, to be that solid rock with some1 for whom life is falling apart…
Every act just discuss’d worships God.
Each one is done to love another besides myself. Uncomfy, vuln., messy… bc they’re worth it & bc Jesus loves them.
Not in it FOR one another, but being FOR JC means standing with one another.
A pers. on-Mission Remembers Fai’ss, Wor. Tog. &… speaking of OTHERS >>
…Tells Others about Him.
…Tells Others about Him.
1 Chronicles 16:8,24 “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done… 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”
Should come out naturally… if living out a life with Jesus:
Ackn’g God’s fai’ss gives us confidence in His char; our val to Him.
Celeb. in comm. reminds that it’s not just about MY success.
Also humbles me to serve another.
Which in turn…
A lifestyle of testimony & community should bubble over into evangelism. Romans 15:13
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
See, when we mark down His faithful prov. & work in our lives it gives us hope.
Devil wants us to obsess over what we can get and fun can have… leaves us empty when it’s done; disappointed!
BUT we break his sys. when we give God glory, pursue HIS ways over own.
HIS reaction to stress over our feel’gs; His forg. instead bittern.;
HIS truth over lies told; HIS gospel over the false Way to salv. this world sells you.
HIS self-cont’l instead of pleasure & $ or pwr.
Results: peace or joy & deeper relat’s & autonomy over life’s choices
LET ME TELL YOU:
When you take hold of His peace & freedom, you’ve GOT TO tell somebody!
Something so amazing & humbling, yet powerful & fulfilling about it.
Changes you on deeper level.
Sacrifice your Life for Jesus.
Sacrifice your Life for Jesus.
JC gives warn’g in Serm on Mt:
Matthew 6:24 NLT “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money."
Honestly living the Christian life means learning to despise my old ways [death] & practicing living out Christ’s [life].
As long as you still love that old master, addiction, old THING that keeps you from fully committing, the fruit of the Xian life will elude you.
You may even really be saved; head’g for home w. JC… but your life isn’t yet being transformed into His Way.
No, X calls us to a deeper, daily discipline of dying.
Matthew 10:38–39 “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
