If a your kid or grand kid drew a picture and gave it to you you would appreciate it.
If kid said, I was having a hard day and drew this picture because I wanted to do what you would
When we understand the significant of something we value it more.
What Jesus did to bring the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

v3 & v4 Jesus was alive and continuing to build his Kingdom

The followers were saved
Acts 1:4–5 “4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.””
v4 You cannot sperate the Spirit and Body of Christ. They are one and the same. Which he provides to us.
The Spiritual and Physical are both important to God.
Spirit living in a person is a direct connection with Gen 1.
But what is Jesus’ role in the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

v 5 - Jesus’ Identity = Spirit Baptizer

What does it mean for Jesus to carry/bear the Spirit?

to Bear in English = carry the weight of
Jesus carries God’s power in an unbroken, permanent way that fundamentally shapes his identity and mission.

Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit

Luke 1:35 “35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”

Jesus Baptism in water and Holy Spirit shows up in all the gospels

Matthew 3:11
Mark 1:8
John 1:33
Luke 3:15–16 “15 Everyone was expecting the Messiah to come soon, and they were eager to know whether John might be the Messiah. 16 John answered their questions by saying, “I baptize you with water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”
Luke 3:21–22 “21 One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”
Jesus was a vessel of the Holy Spirit

Why is this significant?

The Holy Spirit was at work:
Creation
1st Adam
2nd Adam
Public declaration that Jesus is the Son of God AND he bears the Holy Spirit

What does it mean to bear (WHY - I want you to appreciate the hard work of Christ!)

OT priest bore the breastplate of the stones.
We bear one another's burdens. We carry the weight
Secondary Trauma
Jesus carries the Spirit of God in a perfect way -
Hebrews 9
The Old Covenant dealt with the issue of sin, but couldn’t clean peoples conscience (Guide of what is right & wrong)
But Christ uses his own blood
Hebrews 9:14 “14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.”
It is the power of the Holy Spirit who enables Christ to laydown his life.
Gethsemane
He lays down His life it is not taken. Read the gospels…
At any minute Jesus could have tapped out.
Jesus sinks into the full abyss of human alienation and never ceases to bear the Spirit or miss use it.
He was perfect
He was submissive
I want us to appreciate what Jesus did for us
He gave up everything so our conscience can be purified
Then he gives us the same power of the Spirt.

Nothing is must anger Jesus more than people miss using the Holy Spirit for their personal gain.

You can’t buy this - Simon (Acts 8)
Ananias and Safire

What does this look like to abuse the Holy Spirit?

Difference between ignoring and mis using
Ignoring
“Don’t say this. It will hurt them”
Apologize to them
Reach our to that person
Mis using
Fake Healings, pushing people down. Miss using.
When you take the decision way from God
MOST COMMON When you say I prayed and the Spirit told me. but we are lying
Thus says the Lord, but it was really thus says you.

How do we do it right?

Move towards Holiness
Cleans your Conscious - Right & Wrong
Submit to Jesus’s greatest commandment
Jesus does this for ALL FLESH

So now baptism!

Full emersion
Move towards perfection.
Surrender
The only way for the disciples to carry out the mission was through the Power of the Holy Spirit

Personal take away

How much Jesus Values YOU!
If you have been Spiritual Abused Jesus knows and carries that weight
HS gave Jesus strength and will give us strength
Full emersion is to help cleans our conscious as much as possible

Now Gift

What is the gift? AND When is the Spirit at work?

Not speaking in tongues, healings, prophecy it the full emersion in the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:7–11 “7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

AND When is the Spirit at work?

Since Creation
Holy Spirit is at work in salvation
Putting the pieces where they go.

What should we do?

Seek the Spirit for the renewing of your mind/conscious
Not Facebook scroll
Not write a book
Not nock on doors
