What does my Bible say? Does it ay something different than my Bible? NO, each is a copy of God’s Word.
When it comes to questions, personal study, Biblical patterns, difficult moments of life — an appropriate response is WHAT DOES MY BIBLE SAY? I have thought this over the years and still to this day. Over the last 3 months, I have been writing topics down that I want to know what the Bible has to say or I have heard or discerned that students want to know.
This question [students ask question] is approached two ways: LIFE - TEXT or TEXT - LIFE. As I explain these, you will notice that neither are bad, but both serve a specific place in our life.
TEXT - LIFE:
Making Sense of God’s Word Where Does the Bible Fit?
You come to the Bible without a topic in mind and try to listen to whatever the passage you are studying happens to say.
LIFE - TEXT:
Making Sense of God’s Word Where Does the Bible Fit?
Life often causes us to take another approach to the biblical text. It is one driven by need and circumstance. You are facing a crisis or a decision. You are trying to give comfort to someone in distress. science has brought up a subject or a friend asked a difficult question.
Both approaches serve a place in our life. In our future weeks, you may be in the LIFE - TEXT approach because they are questions that you have. It is possible you have never thought of these questions, and you will be taking the TEXT - LIFE approach.
Later tonight, I want to specifically address TEXT - LIFE approach because this speak to a Daily Quiet Time. I want to share Biblical reason to have one and four practical steps to sustain one.
When it comes a personal Quiet Time we are going to ask the Question: [student respond]
Before this LETS PLAY A TEAM GAME (half on one side and half on the other)

non-Newtonian Fluid, also known as Oobleck has one of the craziest results of a combination — Cornstarch and Water. The combining of these create a liquid/solid or a solid/liquid.
Liquid State: When you move slowly, the water flows around the cornstarch particles, making it feel liquid.
Solid State: When you apply quick force (punch it), the particles are forced together, trapping the water and resisting the impact as if it were a solid.
I want you to keep oobleck in mind as we discover God’s design for a daily Quiet Time. What in the world does oobleck have to do with my quiet time? I want you to compare you Quiet Time to it .
Christ desires you to spend time in His Word DAILY and that you commit to it and remain firm, even under pressure.
On the days that you oversleep, crazy schedule, away from home. Remain flexible when necessary. Never cut it out of your day but sometimes place in a different moment of your day.
The Christian Walk without a daily reference to the map is a long, wandering journey, missing the true beauty that God has for you!
Turn in your Bibles to Psalms 5. Here we are going to begin our capture of a Daily Quiet time. As you turn there, lets capture Jesus’ example when He was living on earth…
35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.
36 And Simon and those who were with him searched for him,
37 and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.”
38 And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.”
39 And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.
3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.
12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.
O what few and POWERFUL words! David often speaks about private moments with the LORD and many times its in the morning. As David invites us into His daily Quiet Time there are some interesting parts:
“In the morning you hear my voice” — PRAYER
“prepare a sacrifice” — READ (comparison of the best way to come into the presence of God)
“and watch” — MEDITATE
reference vs 11 — SHARE
I want to lead you through these Four Moments of a Daily Quiet Time because these four moments will help sustain a Daily Quiet Time and sustain your relationship with Christ.
FILL YOUR LIFE WITH PRAYER - Romans 8:26-27
FILL YOUR LIFE WITH PRAYER - Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Never has God stated that we have to haveall the right words. God desires the intentions of our heart when we're praying.
The Holy Spirit communicate what we cannot fully — that is the beauty of the Trinity!
Never let “awkward silence” lead you to end the conversation. Let the Spirit work and God speak.
STICK TO THE BIBLE - Hebrews 4:12-13
STICK TO THE BIBLE - Hebrews 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
There is a divine impact and experience when we come before God’s Word. That speaks to every area of your life and heart. What is public and what is secret — God knows. What is public and what is secret — God has provided His word to speak to.
The famous question: WHAT TO READ and HOW MUCH TO READ
No pressure to finish in a year or a chapter a day

MEDITATE ON THE GOLD NUGGETS — PSALMS 1:1-3
MEDITATE ON THE GOLD NUGGETS — PSALMS 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Progression of Sin
Walk — Stand — Sit
Where is your DELIGHT?
joy, exciement, willingness
Meditate — slowly repeating the phrase and thinking on it.
There is a beautiful combination of prayer and reading in this moment. The same way David WATCHED — will you take your prayers and what you read and
Look at this beautiful image in verse 3 when one delights and meditates…
“When I delight and meditate, I am in a healthy state. I am where God wants me. I produce and receive.”
Not only do we benefit, but when we meditate on God’s Word, we produce fruit that others may also enjoy and be encouraged.
-fruit to be seen
-fruit to be tasted
-fruit that plants seeds
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
When we meditate on God’s Word it prepares us for our final moment to have a sustaining Quiet Time and Relationship with Christ…
SHARE WITH OTHERS — ROMANS 15:14
14 I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.
INVITE STUDENTS READ THIS TOGETHER
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
According to this passage — you must have LOVE if you are going to share.
You will notice in verse 16, wisdom only comes when we READ, PRAY, and MEDITATE.
When we have wisdom, we can share!
