Rules that dont make sense and being ceremoniously “unclean” to participate with the synagogue (Washing hands)
Jesus proclaimed that it is what is inside of you that defiles you, so the traditions can be helpful but not a replacement for God

Mark 7:24-37

HOOK
Jesus is going to a place where non jewish people live (Gentiles), and many of the Jewish people believed that God mostly cared about them.
Have you ever felt left out? How does it feel?
Big IDEA: Jesus welcomes people others might leave out and He has power to help them
BOOK
v.24-30 PART ONE
things to point out
Look
The woman is not “part of Jesus people” in the way the religious rulers would see it
She asks Jesus to help her daughter
Jesus tests her faith (v. 27)
She does not give up (v.28)
v.31-36 PART TWO
Look
Jesus understands our struggles even the ones we cant explain
The man couldnt hear or speak, but Jesus showed care and patience
a reminder that sometimes people can hear with their ears but not their hearts
Jesus heals ears - but He also wants to heal hearts.
TOOK
(Socially) Be kind to kids who are left out
(Individuall) Pray and Do not give up
(In Faith) Jesus listens Even when answers take time
Small group Qs
In what way did you see God move in your life today?
What do both people have in common? (they needed help and trusted Jesus)
Have you been treated differently before? How have you treated someone who was different?
