Introduction

Last week, we focused we began this series by focusing on the subject “Guarding our Hearts: From Sorrow”. This week, I want us to look at the topic of “Fear”.

Body

Fear Tactics from Satan
Fear from a lack of assurance
John 10:28-29 “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
Romans 8:38–39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Fear of Man
Matthew 10:26–28 ““Therefore, don’t be afraid of them, since there is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered and nothing hidden that won’t be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper, proclaim on the housetops. Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Psalm 2:11 “Serve the Lord with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.”
Psalm 34:9 “You who are his holy ones, fear the Lord, for those who fear him lack nothing.”
Fear of Perception
Galatians 1:10 “For am I now trying to persuade people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people,”
Fear of Persecution
Acts 4:29 “And now, Lord, consider their threats, and grant that your servants may speak your word with all boldness,”
Acts 4:32–35 “Now the entire group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common. With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. For there was not a needy person among them because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of what was sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed to each person as any had need.”
