I came across a funny one this week:
A reset study has found that woman who carry a little extra weight live longer then the men who mention it.
Worshiping God is based on His worth.
Often times as believers we settle for theological answers without experiencing what we have studied in the Bible.
We get comfortable with having good theology with encountering the God of theology.
We were designed not to live with concepts and theories but we were designed to live in the presence of God and increase in our relationship with Jesus. We were designed to experience God.
Revelation from the word should lead us into an encounter with God.
We hear a great sermon on _________ , and get satisficed with a good sermon without experiencing what God is trying to say through the sermon.
That was a awesome worship song the potluck had the best dishes this week. All without encounter.
We are not looking for hype they are looking for real. They are looking for tangible.
We are not just here for more information but we are here for presence.
We don’t need entertainment , good sermons, and great worship sets at church. Were saturated with online entertainment, doom scrolling, and we are becoming numb to it all.
So when we come to church we want something different.
When we show up to church we want something real and tangible. We want to know is God real. We want something transformative. We want live interaction with real physical people.
The internet is good at information and entertainment but for the most part it cannot facilitate an encounter with God and His people.
I’m proud of our worship team and how far we have come. So I think we are pretty good .
however we are not as good as some of the bands that you can listen to Youtube.
however there is an anointing that comes on us that you can only experience when we are gathered in person lifting up one voice to the Father.
We can get great information through a sermon and I’ve been speaking in pulpit ministry for over 25 years.
However there are a lot better preachers online than me.
When God uses me to craft a sermon that is lead by the Spirit.
He knows everyone here intimately and He can speak directly into your situation then you can walk out of here with a encounter with God.
Not all encounters with God is the sky parting and the glory cloud descending.
I said all that to say that I’ve been sensing that we need to dig deeper in our cooperate and private worship and have a greater hunger to see God move in our services and personal life in for 2026.
Lets look at some ways we can see that happen in our life.
Lets look at some ways we can see that happen in our life.
The Bible says if there are 2 or 3 gathered in my name there I am in the midst of them.
If I lift up my praise to Him He inhabits my praise.
He said He would establish His thrown on the praises of His people.
God has a invitation to ever be apart of His presence.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
30 I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy!
I magnify your Name. Its impossible to make God bigger than He already is. So what does this mean?
How many when you were a kid took a magnifying glass, put it in the sun and looked for piece of wood and shined the glass on it. If you held it just right it burn the piece of wood.
The sun was already there and it was as big as it going to get. The wood was in the sun and didn’t burn it until you magnified the son. What you did was took what already existed and brought into a focused place of contact.
When you magnify the Son of God and bring Him into focus He manifests Himself in ways He would not have otherwise. He might even begin to burn things out of our life that might not need to be there.
David longed and had a heart for the presence of God.
Whenever you see the word presence in Hebrew “panim” it means Face. When we are talking about he presence of God we are not talking about a abstract force that fills the air..
Its face to face encounters with God.
David longs for God’s presence and brings the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem.
2 Samuel 6
Verse: 6 The ox stubbled and Uzzah reached out to steady the ark and God struck him dead. Why?
Be Restored 5. David Relocated the Holy Ark (2 Sam. 6:1–23; 1 Chron. 13:1–13; 15:1–16:3)
the Levites didn’t carry the Ark on their shoulders. God had given specific directions through Moses how the tabernacle was to be erected, dismantled, and transported (
The presence of the Lord is to rest on the priest not on the machinery that man makes. It never rest on organizations and ministry. It always rest on people.
Be Restored 5. David Relocated the Holy Ark (2 Sam. 6:1–23; 1 Chron. 13:1–13; 15:1–16:3)
When it looked like the Ark would fall from the cart, Uzzah presumptuously took hold of it to steady it, and he was killed. But God had warned about this in the Law of Moses, and every Israelite surely knew of it
15 And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, as the camp sets out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry these, but they must not touch the holy things, lest they die. These are the things of the tent of meeting that the sons of Kohath are to carry.
20 but they shall not go in to look on the holy things even for a moment, lest they die.”
God truck Uzzah dead for manhandling the presence of God. The presence of should never be manipulated and controlled. We are always to be in His control.
David parked the art at Edom’s house for 3 months and tried again to bring the Ark to Jerusalem.
On the way David was dancing before the Lord.
2 Samuel 7:12-16
Davids wife despised her husband. Religion and political spirits want worship to be measured, controlled, and reasonable. Both those mindsets resist, reject, and despise extravagant worship.
Sacrifice is step beyond convince. Its vital that we step in the realm of sacrifice on a regular basis. Beyond what comes natural or normal.
When the Lord says lift up a shout of praise in scripture. He didn’t say only for those who are outgoing. Those of you with only a aggressive personality this is your moment.
For the quite one’s think good thoughts and I’ll be quit satisficed. Well that’s not my personality. We actually are believing a lye.
23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
One who despised worship.
1 “Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the Lord.
One who embraced worship.
In the presence of God there comes a birthing of God’s purpose and will in our life. But the shout comes before the birthing.
Psalm 84
This Psalm describes turning drought into rain.
Sermon Closing
So church, this is where it becomes more than a message.
This is where information leads to transformation.
God is not asking us to work something up—He’s inviting us to show up.
He is already here. His presence is not distant or reserved for a few.
The question is not “Is God willing?”
The question is “Are we hungry?”
We’ve talked about magnifying the Lord—not making Him bigger, but bringing Him into focus. Some of us have been standing in the sun, but we haven’t brought Him into focus yet.
When we focus our hearts, our voices, our surrender, something ignites.
Barren places begin to sing before they ever see the promise.
The shout comes before the breakthrough.
The song comes before the birthing.
The dance comes before the victory.
God’s presence was never meant to rest on carts, systems, methods, or programs. It rests on yielded people.
On hearts that say, “God, I don’t want control—I want You.”
On worship that is not measured, managed, or muted—but surrendered.
This isn’t about hype.
This is about hunger.
This is about face-to-face—panim—with the living God.
Because when His people magnify Him,
He manifests Himself.
And when His presence comes,
nothing leaves the same.
Lord, we don’t just want to know about You—we want to encounter You.
Have Your way. Amen.
