Why They Didn't Believe

John 5:31-47

I. The Evidence Was Clear (vv. 31-39)

A. God gave multiple witnesses

John the Baptist, Jesus’s works, The Father, The Scriptures

B. There is plenty of evidence for Who Jesus is

II. The Problem Was The Heart (vv. 40-44)

A. They refused to come to Jesus in faith

B. Unbelief is often a heart issue, not an evidence issue

III. The Consequences Were Serious (vv. 45-47)

A. The very Scriptures they trusted condemned them

B. You cannot honor God while rejecting His Son

The question is not “Is there enough evidence?”

The question is “Will I come to Jesus for life?”
