See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
Book of Isaiah 43:19
God’s promise of a new thing was spoken to people who were shaped by their past.
They had seen God move before—but they were also tempted to return to what was familiar. Comfort often pulls us backward even when God is calling us forward.
As leaders, we are especially prone to this. When decisions feel uncertain, we instinctively reach for what worked before.
Familiar methods feel safer than unfamiliar obedience. But what was once effective can quietly become comfortable, and comfort can dull our spiritual perception.
That’s why God asks, “Do you not perceive it?”
Not because He isn’t working—but because we may be looking in the wrong direction.
God’s new thing doesn’t dishonor the past, but it does refuse to be limited by it. This year, God may not be calling us to abandon everything we’ve done—but He is calling us to resist the pull of comfort and remain open to fresh direction.
Maybe God puts something new on your heart for the church to do. Don’t be afraid to share it and speak up. God has you here for a reason.
That being said...here is my Pastor report
