Matthew 7:7–8 KJV 1900
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Why Asked God for anything .....when he is everything?
Jesus commands them to ask, to seek and to knock
Biblical literacy cannot exist without contextual clarity.
A scripture taken out of the context in which it was written can quickly become something else.
What do you do when you are
++Mistreated
++Misunderstood
We learn very early in life
++Life is not fare
++Things are not equal
We are told to
++Stand up for yourself
++Not let anyone push you around
God has a different admonition
++It has nothing to do with us
++It is not about what we have
++It is all about his goodness
Matthew 7:11–12 KJV 1900
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Because of His goodness we are empowered to ask
Asking says
++I believe
++You have what I need
++You are willing to provide it
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
There is nothing in the totality of scripture that ascribes
++Wealth as a proper pursuit
++Wealth is a by product of our pursuit
Education - Wealth of information
Commerce - Wealth of Substance
Understanding of Money- Wealth of business opportunity
Deuteronomy 8:18–19 KJV 1900
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
Matthew 6:31–33 KJV 1900
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
True wealth is to
++Be connected to the right source.
++Trust in the right thing
++Look beyond yourself
Matthew 11:1 KJV 1900
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
What God has called us to is not a suggestion.
++Commands his Disciples
++Jesus goes into their cities
++To teach and preach
Jesus when before them
++John prepared the way of the Lord
++The Lord prepares the way for us
Matthew 10:19–20 KJV 1900
But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
2 Corinthians 3:2–3 KJV 1900
Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
2 Corinthians 3:5–6 KJV 1900
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Matthew 11:2–3 KJV 1900
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
John was not looking
++For a good feeling
++A good word
++Fellowship
But John was looking for the promise of God.
John 1:30–33 KJV 1900
This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
Anticipation
++Makes you long for it.
++Increases our desire
++Hunger for all that God is.
God does not want to bless you....unless he can make you a blessing.
Abraham
Genesis 12:3 KJV 1900
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Abraham’s Test -Obedience
Genesis 22:18 KJV 1900
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Abrahams Blessing - to be a blessing
Genesis 28:14 KJV 1900
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
We must make the right connection.
