Lk 7:11-17. Dan Kroon. This Sunday evening we’re starting a three-week series looking at the three resurrection miracles that Jesus performed. The reversal of death is the greatest example of Christ’s authority and the greatest expression of the kingdom breaking through darkness. It’s easy to read these stories with familiarity and forget to be shocked by the supernatural significance of what is happening. It’s easy to look at them from a distance and forget that Jesus can smash through our hopelessness and grief, no matter how bad it is. His authority reveals that he can, and his compassion reveals that he does. We begin the series with the raising of the widow’s son, seeing what happens when the way of life and the way of death face off.
