This prayer is the hinge between Heaven’s intention and Earth’s reality. It is how we align with the King, release His authority, and participate in His activity.

There was a season in my life when I realized something uncomfortable about my prayer life. I was praying sincerely, showing up consistently, saying the right words—but I wasn’t actually sure I wanted God to answer them. I would pray, “Lord, lead us,” but what I really meant was, “Bless the direction I’ve already chosen.” I would pray, “Your will be done,” as long as it didn’t disrupt my plans, my pace, or my sense of control. And then one day it hit me—if God actually answers this prayer the way Jesus taught it, something in my life is going to have to move. Because when Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He didn’t start with needs or requests or help. He started with surrender. “Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” That is not a passive prayer. It’s not a comforting prayer. It’s a dangerous prayer, because the moment you pray it honestly, you are inviting heaven to rearrange earth—starting with you. And that’s why this prayer is the hinge between heaven’s intention and earth’s reality.
I believe where many people get off course in prayer is they mistake the act of prayer as a doing act and not a being act. Prayer is more about who you are with that what you do. Prayer is not a task we perform. Prayer is relational alignment. Remember to focus on the first line of the Lords Prayer – “Our Father…” Matthew 6:9 This is a familial, intimate, and personal connection to the God of the universe. Prayer is not distant – prayer is not reaching; prayer is being with Him. The Holy Spirit is who helps us to pray (Romans 8:26-27), and the Holy Spirit now dwells in you –
John 14:17 NASB95
17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Romans 8:9 NASB95
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
1 Corinthians 6:19 NASB95
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
This is why our prayer life is so amplified after being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit baptism goes beyond being filled with the spirit (this is every believer- John 3:5, Romans 8:9). Holy Spirit Baptism means now we are baptized, saturated, drown into the Spirit of God. Meaning He is not just in us but we are in HIM. We have unlimited access to the Spirit desires, wills, thoughts, and emotions. Our prayer life has been augmented in an unmeasurable way.
Romans 8:26–27 NASB95
26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Because prayer is who we are with, prayer does not begin with speaking. Prayer begins with presence and listening. We approach God in the same way we would approach anyone else we hold in high esteem.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name
Before requests, Jesus teaches reverence, awareness, submission. We do not rush into heaven with opinions—we step into holiness and listen.
Through out this series we have talked about the laws, and liberties of the Kingdom. In week one we talked about the liberty of the Kingdom of God. To the degree you are submitted to God; this is the degree you are free. In week two we spoke about the laws of the Kingdom -
The poor in spirit receive the kingdom.
Those who mourn are comforted.
The pure in heart see God.
The persecuted - theirs is the Kingdom.
Today I want to step into the language of the kingdom. The language of the Kingdom is the language of prayer. Prayer is how the will of heaven invades earth.
“God has given to prayer the power of moving heaven and earth.” - Charles Finney
“God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” “prayer is where the action is” - John Welsey
“God shapes the world by prayer. The more prayer there is in the world, the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil” - EM Bounds
“When we work, we work; when we pray, God works.” - John Hyde
Prayer is the language of the Kingdom because prayer is how the King has chosen to rule. A prayerless Church is not powerless because God is absent—but because God is uninvited. The Kingdom does not advance by intention alone. It advances by intercession.
There are most commonly taught six types of prayer.
Adoration / Praise – Declaring who God is
Psalm 104; Psalm 145
Thanksgiving – Gratitude for what God has done
Ephesians 5:4; Psalm 100:4
Supplication / Petition – Requests for personal needs
Matthew 6:11; Philippians 4:6
Intercession – Standing in the gap for others
1 Timothy 2:1; Ezekiel 22:30
Confession / Repentance – Acknowledging sin, restoring fellowship
Psalm 51; 1 John 1:7–9
Consecration / Dedication – Yielding ourselves to God
Romans 12:1–2

Prophetic Utterance Prayer

These prayers shape who we are. But Scripture reveals a seventh expression that shapes what happens. I believe this seventh prayer is the prayer of the Lords Prayer. Prophetic prayer does not originate inhuman desire, but in divine revelation.
Matthew 6:10 NASB95
10Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

Four Expressions of Prophetic Utterance Prayer

1. Prophetic Decree – Kingdom Authority
Declaring what God has already established -
Job 22:28 NASB95
28You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways.
These words of Eliphaz to Job began in verse 21 with “Yield”. The prophetic decree of Gods kingdom authority is not a prayer where our will becomes Gods will, it’s not think it in your mind and manifest it into reality. This is the prayer where through submission the will of Heaven exits our mouth with Spirit lead authority.
Psalm 110:2 NASB95
2 The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
David prayed this prayer roughly 1000 years before Jesus. But these words are a prophetic declaration of the coming rule of Jesus! The prophetic decree is not about demanding outcomes. We are declaring God’s rule, in our home, our work places, our schools, our region.
Example Practice:
“We declare the Lordship of Jesus Christ over this city.”
“We declare the Kingdom of God advancing in this region.”
2. Prophetic Intercession – Standing in the Gap
Praying what the Spirit revealsnot just what we know
Often includes burden, urgency, or groaning.
Ezekiel 22:30 NASB95
30 “I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.
This prayer is Spirit-led, not data-led.
Romans 8:26 NASB95
26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
Often when I send texts to my team to pray for me, I will leave out the details. Recently Stella asked me, don’t you want to tell them how to pray for us. I said no, I want God to tell them. Intercession does not need details, it needs obedience and surrender. Jesus doesn’t need us to know much to intercede - because He is already interceeding for us. Romans 8:34
Romans 8:34 NASB95
34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
If we will simply make ourselves available - He give us the details to pray.
3. Declarative Prayer – Proclaiming the Word
Speaking Scripture as a present reality -
Isaiah 55:11 NASB95
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
I cannot tell you how many times I have prayed unscriptural prayers. These are prayers that God cannot answer because they violate Gods nature. 1. Self-exalting prayers Luke 18:11 - “God, I thank You that I am not like other people…” 2. Manipulative prayers James 4:2-3 “…You ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.” 3. Prayers followed by disobedience Isaiah 1:15-16 “…I will not listen… cease to do evil, learn to do good.”
Maybe we should put more of an emphasis on praying the already perfect Word of God. You cannot pray the Scripture and receive a no answer.
For Victory
Isaiah 54:17 NASB95
17No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.
For the Forgiveness of Sins and sickness
Psalm 103:3 NASB95
3 Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases;
For our city, state, and nation
Habakkuk 2:14 NASB95
14 “For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea.
We do not simply ask God to keep His promises. We announce His promises.
4. Prophetic Proclamation – Spiritual Warfare
Exercising authority against spiritual resistance. We don’t bind things out of personal vendeta, anger, or selfish gain. We bind and loose according to the will of heaven.
Matthew 16:19 NASB95
19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”
Look at this same passage in the amplified translation of the Bible.
Matthew 16:19 AMP
I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.”
This is not us getting our way - this is us agreeing with heavens way - LET YOUR WILL BE DONE!
2 Corinthians 10:5 NASB95
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
Ezekiel 37:4 NASB95
4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’
This is authority under submission. Every believer should daily be participating in the will of heaven with at least one loud- assertive prayer tearing down the forces of hell and prophetically declaring the will of heaven.
Mark 9:25 NASB95
25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again.
Here is a Messianic example of an assertive prayer. We can use these same words to apply to unclean spirits in our home, our workplace, our city.
I command the spirit of witchcraft to leave in the name of Jesus and never return again
I command you unclean spirit of lust to leave my home in the name of Jesus and never return
It’s OK to be angry at the devil when it produces a prayer that ushers in heavens will

Praying Over the Church & the Region

God has called us to influence cities, nations, regions and to claim authority over the principalities of dark forces that rule in these areas. I believe that God is calling Living Faith Church to champion the cause of prophetic declarations over our region. Here are three key passages for us to pray as prophetic prayers to usher in the will of heaven - in alignment with Thy Kingdom Come.
Ephesians 1:22–23 NASB95
22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Gangs
Drug addiction
Sex trafficking
Alcoholsim
Pornography and Lust
Rebellion and Witchcraft
According to Ephesians these are under His feet - meaning if the church will rise up in authority and take our place in prayer - we can drive these things out and so much more with the power of prayer - THY KINGDOM COME- THY WILL BE DONE.
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 NASB95
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
Let’s start praying prayers that destroy speculations, everything that rises up against the knowledge of God.
We destroy the spirit of mormonism
We destroy the spirit of Jehova Witness
We cast down sorcery and witchcraft
The spirit of confusion and deception - we command you to leave, your power is broken in the name of Jesus!
Ephesians 6:12 NASB95
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Father - I’m not casting out people - but the spirit that controls the people. Let the people be saved and spirit to flee in the name of Jesus!
Right now I want us to stand to our feet and begin to pray some loud - fervent prayers of faith to the tearing down of strongholds. Maybe you have a spiritual language, maybe you want to pray in your native tongue - but lets stand and raise the roof of this house in prayer - that the darkness over our region would flee - and the spirit of Christ would prevail.
