Discussion question: What are Core Values?
Vision is destination - Mission is vehicle - Core values is fuel
Core Values:
Define direction
Shape decisions
Bind a group together in unity
Establish identity
Keep you honest
Produces faithfulness to the mission
Creates a place for generational success
IN SHORT, CORE VALUES ARE THE GUARDRAILS THAT KEEP VISION FROM CRASHING AND THE CHURCH ON MISSION!
First Core Value is Love
The foundation of everything we do MUST be that we love God and each other!
Title: Invest For Eternity
Tonight we talk about our second Core Values: Invest For Eternity
Why do we do what we do?
Because life is temporary, eternity is forever!
2 Corinthians 4:18 “18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
Hearts follow investments
Matthew 6:21 “21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Because we are managers (stewards) not owners
1 Corinthians 4:2 “2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Faithful now = eternal reward
Matthew 25:23 “23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Because souls matter more than success
Matthew 16:26 “26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Because we are created for an Eternal Kingdom
Colossians 3:2 “2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Philippians 3:20 “20 For our citizenship is in heaven…”
