SERIES: Freedom From the Ties That Bind
WEEK 6 — “Walking Free”
Maintaining the Freedom Jesus Gives
Primary Texts:
Hebrews 12:1
Galatians 5:1
Luke 11:24–26
John 15:4–5
INTRODUCTION (8–10 minutes)
Freedom Is a Gift — Walking in It Is a Choice
Church, over the past weeks:
Chains
were exposed
Lies
were renounced
Authority
was declared
Identity
was restored
Now we come to the final truth:
Freedom must be maintained.
Galatians 5:1 says:
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again…”
Jesus frees us.
But we walk it out.
Tell your neighbor:
“I’m not going back.”
I. FREEDOM DOES NOT MEAN THE BATTLE IS OVER (Hebrews 12:1) — 10 minutes
Hebrews says:
“Lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us…”
Notice:
Weight
— not sin
Entangles
— not attacks
Key Insight
Some things aren’t sinful —
they’re just heavy.
Freedom requires discernment.
Illustration: Running With a Backpack
You can’t run well
while carrying unnecessary weight.
Some relationships,
some habits,
some environments
must be laid aside.
Pentecostal truth:
👉 Freedom flourishes in wisdom.
II. CHAINS VS. WEIGHTS (Hebrews 12:1) — 10 minutes
Chains require deliverance.
Weights require discipline.
Examples
Chains:
addiction, oppression, fear
Weights:
distractions, unhealthy patterns, time wasters
Illustration: Open Door
If Jesus opens the door,
don’t redecorate the cell.
Freedom is not fragile —
but it must be respected.
III. EMPTY SPACE MUST BE FILLED (Luke 11:24–26) — 10 minutes
Jesus warned about a house swept clean —
but left empty.
Key Truth
Deliverance creates space.
Discipleship fills it.
Illustration: Garden Principle
If you remove weeds
but don’t plant seeds,
weeds return stronger.
Freedom without filling
invites return.
IV. STAYING FREE REQUIRES CONNECTION (John 15:4–5) — 8 minutes
Jesus said:
“Abide in Me…”
Freedom is not maintained alone.
Illustration: Unplugged Appliance
An appliance looks fine unplugged —
but has no power.
Disconnection weakens freedom.
Pentecostal emphasis:
Prayer
Word
Worship
Community
Isolation is the enemy’s strategy.
V. GUARDING YOUR MIND AND MOUTH — 7 minutes
What you think
and what you say
matter after deliverance.
Illustration: Language Reset
Stop saying:
“I’m
always going to struggle”
“I
hope I don’t mess up”
Start saying:
“I am
learning to walk free”
“I am
growing stronger”
Faith maintains what freedom releases.
VI. FREEDOM IS FOR PURPOSE, NOT JUST RELIEF (Galatians 5:1) — 7 minutes
Jesus didn’t free you
just so you could feel better.
He freed you
so you could live differently.
Free people:
Serve
boldly
Love
deeply
Witness
confidently
Illustration: Delivered to Deliver
Those freed from drowning
become lifeguards.
Your testimony
is someone else’s key.
VII. WHEN YOU STUMBLE, DON’T RETURN TO THE CELL — 5 minutes
Walking free doesn’t mean perfection.
Key Truth
Failure is not bondage —
agreement is.
Proverbs says:
“Though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.”
Get up quickly.
Run to grace.
Refuse shame.
CONCLUSION & FINAL ALTAR CALL (10 minutes)
A Commitment to Walk Free
This altar is not about breaking chains —
it’s about commitment.
Some of you need to say:
“I’m
done with that season.”
“I’m
not returning to that mindset.”
“I
will guard my freedom.”
Corporate Declaration (Strong & United)
“I stand firm in the freedom
Jesus has given me.
I will not be entangled again.
I choose to walk free
every day of my life.”
Closing Ministry Moment
Pray
empowerment
Invite
Holy Spirit filling
Commission
people to live free
Let worship rise in victory, not desperation.
SERIES CLOSING WORD
Jesus did not die
to forgive you halfway.
Whom the Son sets free
is free indeed.
Amen.
