SERIES: Freedom From the Ties That Bind
WEEK 4 — “You Are Loosed”
Authority That Breaks Chains
Primary Texts:
Luke 13:12–13
Isaiah 55:11
Hebrews 4:12
John 8:36
INTRODUCTION (8–10 minutes)
Freedom Is a Declaration, Not a Debate
Up to this point:
We
recognized the chains
We
identified the source
We
responded to the call
Now we arrive at the moment of release.
Luke 13:12 says:
“Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.’”
Jesus did not argue with the bondage.
He did not negotiate.
He did not wrestle.
He declared.
Church, chains don’t fall because you feel free.
Chains fall because authority speaks.
Tell your neighbor:
“Freedom has a voice.”
I. JESUS SPOKE BEFORE HE TOUCHED (Luke 13:12) — 10 minutes
Before laying hands,
before posture changed,
before evidence appeared —
Jesus spoke:
“You are loosed.”
Key Insight
The Word releases what the hands confirm.
Faith comes by hearing.
Deliverance often comes the same way.
Illustration: Courtroom Verdict
When a judge declares,
“Case dismissed,”
The prisoner doesn’t debate.
The sentence is over because authority spoke.
Pentecostal truth:
👉 Chains obey authority, not effort.
II. THE WORD CARRIES DELIVERANCE POWER (Isaiah 55:11) — 10 minutes
Isaiah says:
“My word shall not return void…”
God’s Word doesn’t try — it accomplishes.
Illustration: Key vs. Crowbar
You can break a door with force,
or you can open it with the right key.
The Word is the key.
This is why:
Scripture
spoken out loud matters
Declarations
matter
Confession
matters
Deliverance is not shouting louder —
it’s standing in truth.
III. JESUS NAMED THE RESULT, NOT THE PROBLEM — 8 minutes
Jesus didn’t say:
“Your infirmity is strong.”
He said:
“You are loosed.”
Illustration: GPS Recalculation
A GPS doesn’t lecture about wrong turns.
It announces the correct route.
Pentecostal wisdom:
👉 Speak where you’re going, not where you’ve been.
Stop declaring:
“I’m
addicted”
“I’m
broken”
“I’m
always anxious”
Start declaring:
“I am
free”
“I am
healed”
“I am
delivered”
IV. HE SPOKE TO HER — NOT THE SPIRIT — 7 minutes
Jesus didn’t address the spirit directly.
He spoke to her.
Why?
Because bondage loses power
when identity is restored.
Illustration: Name Restoration
When someone calls you by your true name,
it breaks false labels.
Pentecostal breakthrough:
👉 Deliverance happens when people hear who they are.
You are not your struggle.
You are not your past.
You are a daughter.
You are a son.
V. THE TOUCH CONFIRMED WHAT THE WORD RELEASED (Luke 13:13) — 8 minutes
After He spoke,
Jesus laid hands on her.
Word first.
Touch second.
Illustration: Signed Check
The signature authorizes the funds.
The cashing confirms it.
Laying on of hands
does not create authority —
it releases what’s already authorized.
Pentecostal practice is biblical —
but always grounded in the Word.
VI. FREEDOM CAN BE IMMEDIATE (Luke 13:13) — 7 minutes
“Immediately she was made straight.”
Eighteen years.
Gone in a moment.
Illustration: Light Switch
Darkness doesn’t fade gradually.
It leaves instantly when light appears.
Not all healing is instant —
but instant healing is biblical.
Never let disappointment
talk you out of expectancy.
VII. WHO THE SON SETS FREE (John 8:36) — 5 minutes
Jesus didn’t say:
“Mostly free.”
He said:
“Free indeed.”
Partial freedom is not the goal.
Complete freedom is.
CONCLUSION & ALTAR CALL (10 minutes)
Say It Out Loud
This altar is about declaration.
Some of you have been:
Asking
instead of declaring
Hoping
instead of believing
Jesus’ words are for you today:
“You are loosed.”
Guided Declaration (Lead Strongly)
“By the authority of Jesus Christ,
I declare that I am loosed
from every chain,
every lie,
every bondage.
What held me no longer owns me.
I belong to Jesus.
I am free indeed.”
