Elisha – Week 3

“The Power of a Faith That Trusts God Completely”

Primary Texts: 2 Kings 5; 2 Kings 6:8–23

Big Idea

God’s power is revealed when His people trust Him fully—especially when obedience feels simple, humbling, or risky.

Introduction

Elisha’s ministry shows us a God who works through faith, not force; obedience, not pride. In Week 3, we see how trusting God completely brings healing, protection, and victory—even when circumstances seem impossible.

Main Point 1: God’s Power Is Not Limited by Status or Background

Text: 2 Kings 5:1–14 (Naaman)
Naaman had everything—except healing Commander, respected, powerful… yet leprosy reminded him he was still in need.
God often uses unexpected messengers A servant girl points the way to God’s prophet.
Pride can block faithNaaman expected something dramatic, not simple obedience.

Key Truth

God’s grace is available to anyone willing to humble themselves.
Application
Sometimes God’s instructions feel too simple to matter.
Faith grows when we obey—even when it challenges our pride.

Main Point 2: Obedience Unlocks God’s Transformation

Text: 2 Kings 5:10–14
Elisha doesn’t even come out God removes personality and performance from the miracle.
Healing required obedience, not understandingNaaman had to dip seven times—fully trusting God’s word.
Breakthrough came after persistence Not the first dip. Not the second. But obedience all the way through.

Key Truth

Partial obedience is still disobedience—but complete obedience brings transformation.
Application
What has God already told you to do that you’re resisting?
Trust grows when we follow God’s Word completely.

Main Point 3: God Protects His People Even When We Can’t See It

Text: 2 Kings 6:15–17
Fear comes from limited vision Elisha’s servant saw the enemy army.
Faith sees what fear cannot Elisha prayed: “Lord, open his eyes.”
God’s presence surrounds His peopleChariots of fire filled the hills.

Key Truth

God is always at work—even when we feel surrounded.
Application
When anxiety rises, ask God to open your eyes.
Remember: God’s protection is greater than any threat.

Main Point 4: God’s Victory Is Accomplished Through Grace, Not Revenge

Text: 2 Kings 6:18–23
God disables the enemy without destructionThe army is blinded—not killed.
Mercy becomes a testimonyElisha commands kindness instead of violence.
Peace follows obedienceThe raids stop after mercy is shown.

Key Truth

God’s ways bring peace where revenge would only bring more conflict.
Application
Trust God with justice.
Responding with grace can end cycles of conflict.

Conclusion

Elisha’s life teaches us that:
Faith requires humility
Obedience leads to transformation
God is always present
Grace is more powerful than force

Closing Challenge

Where is God asking you to trust Him fully—not halfway?
Faith isn’t about seeing first. It’s about trusting God enough to obey.
