1. The Gospel Prophesied.

Over 300 prophecies about Jesus were fulfilled in Jesus. 574 verses include prophecies about Jesus.
Gen 3:15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”Isa 9:6–7For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.Isa 52:13–53:12See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. Just as there were many who were appalled at him— his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness—…Dan 7:13–14“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.Micah 5:2“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”Mark 8:31He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
The prophets of old were serving you as they prophesied. Some of the prophets died for prophesying against kings and saying Jesus was going to come. John the Baptist died for essentially the same reason.
Angels did not even understand the full extent of the gospel. They were looking into these things.
Many did not understand how Jesus was predicted to make all things right and yet he was going to suffer. He was going to rule the whole world yet be put to death by the world. He would establish a kingdom but them the kingdom of rome and the religious elite would be able to reject him.

2. The Gospel Applied.

It starts with “therefore” because the gospel is true, it has been predicted and established as true. It is worth so much value because Jesus had to suffer so much, this is what you do.
So much of the Christian life can be an attempt to follow all of the rules because we are trying to earn God’s love or we are somehow going to convince him to do this in our life or that in our life what happens is we lose focus. When we focus on the gospel, what happens instead is we get this overwhelming desire to do what God wants. Sometimes the reason we sin is not just because our hearts are hard and warped and deceitful above all else, although that is true. sometimes the reason we sin is because we forget why we say no to sin and why we can say yes to Jesus and that is because of what he has done for us.
It is full of hope- when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Children- it is part of this relationship.
It is mimicking the Father. He is holy so be holy in all you do.
Be holy, not look holy. People think that the avoid the appearance of evil.
Be holy, not dress holy.
Be holy, not make people think you are holy.
Be holy. dedicated, set apart.
