Occasion of passing the baton

Near death, last letter, passing off the ministry

Not just vision casting and imagination. A lot of looking back

The gift of God given to Timothy came from Paul laying hands on him (1:6) not from his mere dreams and goals.
Not so much vision casting, not a preference of the next generation because they will be relevant. No, it’s a preservation of what was passed down from the previous generation, 2:2, 1:5, Lois and Eunice

A lot of testing and naming

Abandoned by all who were in Asia, Phygelus and Hermogenes (abandoned), Hymenaeus Philetus (ungodly babble, over realized eschatology)
but the Lord knows those who are his (2:19) suffer everything for the sake of the elect
4:10 - Demas deserted

disciplined focus, within the rules, hard-working

“All Scripture” passage not just a proof text

This assumes inspiration, it is not being defended but being used as a tool. the only necessary tool
Preach the word. Do the work of an Evangelist
I am already being poured. I have finished.
Bring my book and above all my parchments
