Hebrews 11:6 ESV

6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Most of us have no problem with faith that God exist 1

However we do struggle in believing that God rewards us when we seek him.

Easton’s Bible Dictionary Faith

FAITH—Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true. Its primary idea is trust. A thing is true, and therefore worthy of trust.

Galatians 2:15–16 ESV

15 We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; 16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

Faith in Christ alone NOT in Christ plus my efforts!

This DOES NOT mean I do nothing.

Philippians 3:8–11 ESV

8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

My Righteousness comes form Christ alone or Christ plus my efforts?

Easton’s Bible Dictionary Faith

Faith in its direct act makes Christ ours. It is not a work which God graciously accepts instead of perfect obedience, but is only the hand by which we take hold of the person and work of our Redeemer as the only ground of our salvation.

Proverbs 3:5–8 ESV

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

WHEN WE GET OUR HEAD OUT OF THE WAY AND ALLOW OUR FAITH IN GOD ALONE IT WILL BRING US PEACE

When we get our head out of the way and allow our faith in God to be set we will not lose sleep, be troubled in our mind nor allow ourselves to worry about tomorrow it is so refreshing to our bodies.

Faith produces Peace.

Philippians 1:27–30 ESV

27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.

This is how one can die a good death like those in Heb 11

13 Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Do you trust in the goodness of God to be active in your life in all situations ?

So why does it take Faith to please God?

Faith acts with Trust in the one that is Faithful!
