Question: Romans 16:1-27 speaks of Phoebe a deaconess. Judges 4-5 Deborah is a prophetess. 5 other women in hebrew Bible? Miriam, Huldah, Noadiah. They played roles in church but deaconess aren’t recognized in most churches. Why?
Principles:

God has spoken to and through Women

Old Testament:
Deborah - Judges 4-5,
Hulda - 2 Kings 22:14-20;
Noadiah - was a false prophetess against Nehemiah
Philip’s four daughters - Acts 21:8–9 “8 On the next day we departed and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 He had four unmarried daughters, who prophesied.”
Important: - if what someone else says is a word from the Lord for you does not line up with God’s revealed will, then do not follow it.

Anyone can be recognized as a servant (diakonos) and called to serve

Romans 16:1, Philippians 4:2-3, Acts 18:24-28,

God’s pattern is for the pastor to be a man, but the entire church to exercise its gifts

1 Timothy 2:8–15 “8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. 11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.”
