Therapy Cannot Save You

What is the role of salvation in the topic of mental health?
What is the role of salvation in affecting the mind?
We treat the bible as if it’s cute and well intended, but I need a professional for real problems.
If this is the attitude we may not understand the effect of salvation on the mind.
Effect of salvation on the mind:
Start with the way the mind was before salvation:
2 Corinthians 4:3–4
3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing,
4 among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14–16
14 The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one.
16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ.
The mind exist but is broken because of sin.
The mind apart from Christ…
Ephesians 4:17
17 So I say this, and insist in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility (useless) of their thinking.”
Ephesians 4:18–19
18 They are darkened in their understanding, being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.
19 Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness.”
The mind (although sharp in earthly matters) truly does not understand the world apart from Christ.
Titus 1:13–15
13 Such testimony is true. For this reason rebuke them sharply that they may be healthy in the faith
14 and not pay attention to Jewish myths and commands of people who reject the truth.
15 All is pure to those who are pure. But to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
Romans 1:28
28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.
When a person places their faith in Jesus Christ something happens to the mind!
2 Corinthians 3:12–17
12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness,
13 and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from staring at the result of the glory that was made ineffective.
14 But their minds were closed. For to this very day, the same veil remains when they hear the old covenant read. It has not been removed because only in Christ is it taken away.
15 But until this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds,
16 but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.”
At the moment of salvation God changes your mind!
2 Corinthians 3:18
18 And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Salvation means everything to the mind because at the moment of salvation repentance changes the mind.
The Holy Spirit then capacitates our mind to finally function the way that it should.
In this way Christian are the only people on earth with a mind that functions as it should.
