Why do you think Paul calls out the wise here? (V 18-25)

Wisdom can be a great barrier to being saved by the cross
Those who have great knowledge are set in their own ways. They will not move in their thinking
“Stumbling block to the jews and folly to gentiles”
To those who seek miracles, the cross can seem simple
to those who seek logic, it can seem to defy what is logical

What Does Verses 26-31 Reveal about What God wants from us?

He is concerned about our heart, not our head
It was easier for those who were not seen as wise to find the heart of the lord because they were not stuck in their own ways
Knowledge itself wasn’t bad, but rather the exclusivity of attaining high knowledge and understanding is what Paul is preaching against. The message of Christ is for all people and to be understood by all
Anti-gnostic ideology Paul is preaching
Special enlightenment that belonged to only a certain few believers

Is this message one that you think is relevant today? Why or Why not?
